1 slow jet air jet ang used po nito ay for idling into 0 1 8 of our throttle... — HONDA TMX 125 ALPHA MODIFIED

        1) slow jet/air jet- ang used po nito ay for idling into 0-1/8 of our throttle and depending sa air screw adjustment, remember,. that the right air screw adjustment is between 1-2 turns. Kung nasa 0-1 turn ka at nag highest ang RPM mo turns out that you are on the lean side meaning kapos sa gas so kailangan mo maglaki ng slow jet, at sa over 2 turns ay nag highest ang RPM mo turns out you are on the Rich side meaning Sobra ka sa gas so kailangan mo magliit ng slow jet.

        2) Needle jet- brakes into 3 functions, diameter, taper and length and may malaking effect po ito sa makina natin,

Diameter-on most engine combination needle diameter felt in to 1/4 throttle range, crucial po ito from low rpm power and reliability.Meaning if you are running from 1/8 throttle then biglang open that is the reason ng parang lunod. explain ko po sa ibaba.

-When needle diameter is lean the machine will have a loss of low end power and engine will feel very zingy, meaning parang ang lakas at magaspang ang tunog ng makina, but if you put it into heavy loads madali itong mag-init.

-When needle diameter is rich the machine will sputter at 1/4 throttle and be hesitant to take the throttle,.yun bang parang laging naka choke at nababarahan ang spark plug, kung tama ang needle diameter mas maganda ang acceleration thru the first part of power band and provide maximum low end power and very ride able throttle response.

Length-the needle jet determined in clip position (groves at the top of the neddle setting on the upper part portion of the needle). Karamihan ng mga needles ay mayroong 5 clip positions, the top clip position is referred to us the #1 and is the leanest setting and #5 in bottom position and is the richest, the clip length covers the large percentage of our carburetor which will take effect at 1/2 of our throttle.

Professor : You are a Christian, aren’t you, son ?

            Student : Yes, sir.

Professor: So, you believe in GOD ?

            Student : Absolutely, sir.

Professor : Is GOD good ?

            Student : Sure.

Professor: Is GOD all powerful ?

            Student : Yes.

Professor: My brother died of cancer even though

he prayed to GOD to heal him. Most of us would

attempt to help others who are ill. But GOD

didn’t. How is this GOD good then? Hmm?

            (Student was silent.)

Professor: You can’t answer, can you ? Let’s

start again, young fella. Is GOD good?

            Student : Yes.

            Professor: Is satan good ?

            Student : No.

Professor: Where does satan come from ?

            Student : From … GOD …

Professor: That’s right. Tell me son, is there evil

            in this world?

            Student : Yes.

Professor: Evil is everywhere, isn’t it ? And GOD

            did make everything. Correct?

            Student : Yes.

Professor: So who created evil ?

            (Student did not answer.)

Professor: Is there sickness? Immorality? Hatred?

Ugliness? All these terrible things exist in the

            world, don’t they?

            Student : Yes, sir.

Professor: So, who created them ?

            (Student had no answer.)

Professor: Science says you have 5 Senses you

use to identify and observe the world around you.

Tell me, son, have you ever seen GOD?

            Student : No, sir.

Professor: Tell us if you have ever heard your

            GOD?

            Student : No , sir.

Professor: Have you ever felt your GOD, tasted

your GOD, smelt your GOD? Have you ever had

any sensory perception of GOD for that matter?

            Student : No, sir. I’m afraid I haven’t.

Professor: Yet you still believe in Him?

            Student : Yes.

Professor : According to Empirical, Testable,

Demonstrable Protocol, Science says your GOD

doesn’t exist. What do you say to that, son?

Student : Nothing. I only have my faith.

Professor: Yes, faith. And that is the problem

            Science has.

Student : Professor, is there such a thing as

            heat?

            Professor: Yes.

Student : And is there such a thing as cold?

            Professor: Yes.

Student : No, sir. There isn’t.

              Photos from Ron Hunt's post — Honda XR75 XR80 XR100 MR50 in Australia

I just bought a nice new dirt bike this weekend and while riding yesterday it got me thinking of my first bike. That first motorcycle changed my life and got me started into riding. The right bike at the right time can change ones life and cause one to pursue a life of riding. ...and was I lucky enough to get that bike?!!? Boy oh...I did and I rode that lil' dirt bike everywhere growing up and I'm sure that the freedom and adventure given to me thru that bike by my Mom and Dad buying it for me surely changed my life as well as my outlook on life. So...ya know that I love telling stories so let's sit down, rewind a few decades and go motorcycling with lil' Ron.

It was the summer of 1985 and all things were Madonna, Ronald Reagan, no more 7th grade, my Dad's big red Dodge truck, and me still being young enough to not be worrying about girls. ...those were the days. I was 13yrs old and had always wanted a motorcycle but for almost a year I'd been doing a full court press on Mom and Dad and had been begging, pleading, and dropping hints just like Ralphie on the great movie A Christmas Story. ...I suppose this is my Lil' Red Rider BB gun story. I'd even resorted to vandalism by writing in spray paint on my dad's buildings and tool sheds "I WANT A MOTORCYCLE!!!". I shoulda got an ass whooping!!!! ...everywhere you looked was spray painted "I WANT A MOTORCYCLE!!!" But Mom and Dad were awesome and I had a great childhood so they finally felt that I was ready for a bike and off we went looking. We stopped at the local Suzuki shop and they had nothing my size. I remember stopping there once when I was 5 or 6yrs old and looking up in amazement at this huge dirt bike that I wondered who in the world was tall enough to ride it. I swear the footpeg seemed like it was as tall as my chin!!! Up to my chin!!!! The wheels and tires were gigantic!!! It just gave me a sense of wonderment of how one could go anywhere on a motorcycle. ....just one of those childhood memories. Anywho...on we went. We stopped at the local Yamaha shop and again no luck. ...all the bikes there were too big as well. With my young age and size and inexperience I was in need of an 80~100cc bike. No bike was bought on that weekend so I had to wait til the following weekend as my dad worked all week in the coal mines. ...bless his heart, he worked long and hard and still found time to raise a huge garden and would come home from a long day of working, covered in coal dust, and would clean up and then he and Mom would go off to work in the garden until late in the evening. They'd get me to work sometimes in the garden picking up rocks or planting potatoes or picking weeds with them but more often than not I'd slip off with my dog Prince on some adventure in the hills around the house. ...I did say that I needed an ass whooping didn't I??? The following weekend we saw a used bike being sold at an intersection and I was dead set on it. ...it looked like a YZ85 or something similar. Dad said we'd stop on the way back from grocery shopping in town. I complained that it might get sold before we got back. "Relax." Dad said. Ha!! Relax???? How can one relax???? Y'all know a little boy can't relax when the bike of his dreams is being sold alongside the road!!! ...I didn't even know what kind of dirt bike it was then but I was sure that it was that very dream bike. So, on the back way home we approached the little intersection and with anticipation boiling over I stretched and strained looking over the front seats for my soon-to-be ride buuuut...it was gone. ...heartbreak. Simple heartbreak.... The world was over. That was the only bike for sell in the world it seemed to this poor defeated (and spoiled) kid riding in the backseat. I whined and pouted all the way home. ...did I say that I needed an ass whooping??!? The next week dragged along and poor Lil' Ron was still not riding. All his friends were out riding and there I was stuck. I'd hear the braaaap braaaap braaaap of a distant bike blazing up the little road that we lived on and I'd rush out to see it. Smoke pouring outta the exhaust pipe and it's whine getting closer. And there passing me would be one or more of my school buddies off on some big adventure. ...I just knew it!!! Where were they going???!!? What mountains were they climbing???!!? Oooohhhh....my life sucked.... I looked at my bicycle in disgust. ...peddling had lost its thing about a year ago for me. You can only ride a bicycle so long making vrooom vrooom braaap noises pretending you're twisting the throttle before depression sets in. Sigh.... Oh...I fantasized about double jumps and never-ending wheelies and races across Baja and multi day adventure rides all that week. Actually all that previous school year I'd been in a daze about dirt bikes. Hey...I'm an only child and developed a good imagination. So anywho, the weekend finally came and Dad, Mom, and I loaded up in the truck and off we went to the little town of Grundy Virginia, about 25min from home to the Honda shop there. And there they were!!! All those bikes lined up side by side in those amazingly beautiful mid-80's color schemes consisting of sky blue seats and dark blaze orange plastic fenders and gas tanks with sun yellow number and side plates. Oooohhhh....those color schemes will forever be my favorite of any bike. Even to this day I'd take that color if only the current manufactures would listen to my pleas and bring back those designs. ...perhaps I should spray paint that request on their buildings???? Anywho...what was I saying? Oh yeah...bikes lined up for miles!!! Miles I tell ya!!! Hey, I was in a bike shop and I was little and excited and there were about a dozen bikes lined up...y'all bikers know the feeling. Bikes for miles!!! CR's and XR's everywhere and across from them was the cool Honda Odyssey's that looked awesome...this was before ATV's became big and hit the scene. ...but my mind was razor focused on a bike. And then I saw her... Tucked into that long line of bikes....there she was. A pretty little XR100R. Oh, to me it was the perfect size. And the best bike ever...I just knew it!!! Now, I didn't know anything about bikes at that time. Nothing!! I didn't know about four strokes vs two strokes...all I knew was that bikes looked fun and that I had to have one. The little XR was sandwiched between a CR125 which looked huge and an XR80R. Luckily we got the 100...the 80 would've been too small for me engine wise. It had the same frame and all but I would've been hard on those 80cc's and the 100 was perfect for me as my first bike. We got home and unloaded the bike and my apprenticeship as an Evil Knieval wannabe began. But actually...it was my dad who became the first one to ride a wheelie on that bike. He was showing me how the clutch and throttle and all the controls worked and he decided to ride it around the yard. Welp, when he pulled out he popped the clutch too fast while giving it gas and up the bikes front wheel came as he took off speeding across the yard. It was priceless!!!! I don't know what was louder...the roar of the bike or the roar of my dad yelling profanities as he raced across the front yard and going right thru his prized cherry tree. Mom and I were both standing there in amazement, eyes wide and mouths hanging open wider. I remember Mom putting her hand up to her mouth and lowly saying "Oh my God"....I swear she reminds me exactly of Ralphie's own mother from A Christmas Story just as Dad reminds me of his father!!! Somehow Dad wrestled my big mean bike and slowed it down. He pulled up to us, his brow heavily soaked in perspiration along with little red marks and whelps all across his face and arms from being smacked by all the tree limbs, his demeanor humbled a bit as he had before towered over my little bike and remarked that it was small...now he respected my new mean machine. After seeing my dad thumped by my bike I knew I'd picked the right bike and thought it was a beast. That summer I learned to respect it as well and to respect motorcycling. I had lots of little wrecks on it as well as two big ones that tore skin off my knees and elbows...an initiation into the world of motorcycling I suppose. But I learned the lesson of watching where you're going, don't look around to smile at your buddy, to beware of dogs running out in front of you....all the typical hazards to riders. I rode that bike everywhere that year. I discovered old dirt roads around lakes and rivers seldom traveled by anyone anymore. During the summer I was gone from the time I woke up until almost bedtime. ...daylight to dark was riding time!!! When school began in late August I developed a rhythm. I'd arrive home at 3:50pm, Mom would have me a sandwich fixed that I'd just about swallow whole, I'd throw on some old clothes, and off I'd be before 4:30pm...arriving home just at dark as my bike had no headlight. One of my favorite things to do was to put on my back pack which held a small collapsable fishing pole and bait in it and I'd ride off thru the mountains to a secluded fishing hole around the lake where I'd catch tons of bluegill. I'd then keep them on a stringer and as it got close to dark I'd load up my catch in my backpack and race off to several ponds up in the mountains near home where I would stock them with the fish I'd caught. Then I'd race the darkness home....sometimes pulling in just after dark and Mom and Dad would be worried about me and tell me, "Ronald Lee...you get home before dark next time or there won't be another next time!!! Clear?!??" ...but it seemed that there always was a next time and Mom and Dad saw how much I loved to ride and they never did take away my privilege to ride. I can't thank either one of them enough for giving me that first bike and thus giving me the joy of riding and installing in me that sense of freedom and adventure. Thank you Mom and Dad. :')

Artikel Jadul — Honda Tiger Mailing List (HTML)

Honda Tiger Mailing List (HTML) memperkenalkan: Alvie Syahrin!

                          http://winstonsalem.craigslist.org/mcy/5924620053. html

I have a near-mint-condition 2000 Honda Shadow Sabre 1100 with only 29,200 miles. I put on 13,000 over the past 3 years after I bought it from an ex Navy fella). This thing runs like it's brand new. Cranks instantly in the coldest weather (below freezing is no problem). It has factory pipes but slightly modded to provide a great sound that cagers can hear but my neighbors don't mind. I've also added a lot of extras here and there that you can see listed below. I kind of got carried away with the chrome studs but those can be removed if you don't like them. I will throw in that that large rear saddle bag if you want it. I keep it on to haul stuff around town but it can be taken off in 2 minutes.

It's going to really hurt to let her go, but I'm looking to get a different bike. Title is clean and it's just been inspected/oil changed/fluids and cables checked by Honda of W-S (like December 9th).

If you're familiar with the 2000 Honda Shadow Sabre 1100 then you know all you need to know. If you're not, I provided additional specs and 3 web links to some reviews for this exact model. The bike gets great reviews. It's like a combo street rod and touring bike. That's the beauty of these mid-size 1100 bikes. Great for running around town and still comfortable on the interstate or hauling me and the Mrs. fully loaded up the mountains - great low-end torque.

I'm asking $3200 or Best Offer, but below I list the details for what I think the bike is worth:

1995 Honda DelSol Si w/JDM GSR Swap — NOR-CAL STOCKTON HONDA ACURA PARTS

PLEASE READ EVERYTHING BEFORE ASKING ERRONEOUS QUESTIONS.

Need to pay for an upcoming surgery myself, since I can't wait for it to be approved through my healthcare.... Luckily I own 3 DelSol's... so I don't mind selling my project at this point when my health is more important.

I am selling my 1995 Honda DelSol Si. It has a salvaged title; assuming due to theft since the body damage is only paint rot from a crappy Makko's job.

The car is currently registered. Drive it away. Pink slip in my possession and in my name.

                              The Engine:

95' Spec JDM GSR, fully rebuild ~30K miles ago into a USDM engine case from a 95 Integra. I have photos and steps of the entire rebuild. EVERYTHING was machined and specced out. Upgrades on the engine itself are as follows:

Full head rebuild, JDM P72-00 pistons, JDM GSR cams, ARP headstuds, Moroso oil pan, already outfitted and turbo ready (oil feed line for turbo is already mounted and capped, as well as oil pan drain port capped with an AN fitting) so a turbo kit is literally "bolt on" as I had originally planned to turbo this engine, but ran into medical problems, JDM Type R transmission (Non-LSD, freeway RPM in 5th is usually 4K+ RPM), no-name headers that leak from a pothole incident, AEM cold air intake with CARB E.O. Presently it's being run off eCtune, installed in a JDM P72 short case ECU. *The JDM ECU comes with the engine*, Add $350 if you wish to have the tuning package stay with it. If you buy the car with the engine; the VTEC model (8KRPM) cluster will remain. If you buy the shell with no engine, you will get a stock Si cluster installed.

The car itself is complete. The body itself is 99% dent free. No major damage aside from the Makko's paint job peeling away and one rust spot by the gas filler.

Comes as pictured aside from a few small details:

The detachable steering wheel will be removed and a stock one put in place; unless the buyer wants to pay extra for the customized detach mount since it's a "thin release" model mounted to the "short hub" which NRG themselves say is not possible to do. Well; with some machining: it is and I would charge $300 for the modified thin release with short hub since that's what I paid in parts and to rent a machine shop for a few hours.. The driver door handle will be replaced with it's original black one. I don't remember why I put that green housing on there.... I think mainly to piss people off that my car isn't all one color.... I used to keep my green top on it as well for that very reason. The sun visors will be the original factory ones; not the JDM ones (possibly) seen mounted. Those are going in my other SOL. Unless you want to pay the $150 on top of your offer. It is also still wired for a stereo and amps. I just never installed one.

The Honda Goldwing motorcycle first saw the light of day at the Cologne... — Honda Goldwing GL1200 Only

The Honda Goldwing motorcycle first saw the light of day at the Cologne Motorcycle Show in October 1974, as the flat-four cylinder, 999cc GL1000 Gold Wing and was released to the world for the 1975 model year. While this first production version of the now famous Goldwing was ultimately deemed to be a success (it was after all the birth of a legend), it's place in the world of motorcycling was not entirely cast in stone at the beginning. Part of the reason for this was the fact that the GL1000 didn't really fit properly into any particular motorcycle class, even though it was officially tagged as a tourer. Weighing in at 584lbs dry, it was far too heavy to be called a sports bike and the upright sitting position also helped to kill of any such sporting pretensions. The rear coil spring suspension wasn't up to the job of handling all the weight when the rider was pushing it through heavy going, such as the winding country roads that all bikers love (at least occasionally) to tackle. The total absence of touring kit fitted as standard didn't help the official touring image either, Honda didn't make their own saddlebags and trunk available for the GL1000 until it's last year of production in 1979, in spite of promising to do so in 1975. A Honda fairing was not even an option until the GL1100 Interstate was released in 1980! Honda's claim that the GL1000 was a tourer must have rang hollow in the ears of many owners keen to have their machines kitted out for the job. It's almost like the design team had a picture of what they wanted to make, but no clear idea of where to fit it once it went into production. More than one GL1000 owner has told me that their early impressions from the press reports was that Honda seemed to be more concerned with emphasising the outright straight-line performance of the beast, and cementing it's role as a proper touring motorcycle seemed to be of secondary importance at the time. One has to bear in mind that Honda (and all the other major motorcycle manufacturers) were trying to develop many models in the 1970's, this being the biggest boom time for motorcycles ever, period. This was a time when everyone and his sons bought motorcycles and paying attention to the needs of different types of riders (cruiser types, racers, commuters, tourers etc.) must have been very difficult during those hectic days.

Hello Everyone I ve been MIA for quite awhile I realize so here s the latest... — Honda Shadow Aero

Hello Everyone!!! I've been MIA for quite awhile, I realize......so here's the latest, and a parts status update (yes, still drowning in Aero 1100 parts). DO expand the post.....for a general list of upcoming parts.

Last week - just turned over 100k miles on my Goldwing, so I guess that means I'm at over 200k total since I started riding. Sadly, it means I now have more miles on a Goldwing, than on a Honda Aero 1100.....waaa, that actually makes me a little sad/wistful. Good to see my Aero is still the trusty 1100 example for the cover page.....such an honor!

We are buying a house, so moving is coming up in the next 45-60 days, which in turn means - YES - the Honda Aero 1100 parts MUST be sold.

As a refresher - in inventory, which will be posted HERE and NOT on my other page - no pricing determined yet, and I may be interested in doing a complete package deal.

VALUE - I will post what it would COST today to buy these parts new....this does not mean that is what I am charging, but everyone should recognize the retails on these parts to start with, so when I do post MY price - you can factor in what it would cost to replicate before deciding to purchase or not.

Complete (minus custom brackets) V & H DUAL exhaust - new, never installed, with Freedom Performance mufflers with shark fin tips. Make no mistake, these are gorgeous, but LOUD. If you don't want LOUD, these are NOT for you!

Today, all told, acquiring a new set of ACE-T V&H dual exhaust is about $450-500 (maybe a little more), and to replace mufflers (there is a reason to do this) with the mufflers in this set, is another $300 or so. All in, retail to do this plus fab the brackets - about $900 - $1050.

Complete set of customized primered ready-to-paint tins (gas, rear, and front fenders). Gas tank has the bottom seam rolled (much nicer!), rear fender has been customized for another cool LED flush tail light. Well, hard to tell retail - but these days you're probably out a minimum of $600 for used replacement tins without any prep or customizing being done.

                                                        O2sensor — Honda RS150 CEBU Fan Page

                                                        #O2sensor

more info sa atong oxygen sensor

undefined Technically speaking, your oxygen sensor is a battery, it uses fuel and oxygen to create a voltage. It DOES NOT need a voltage input to create an actual reading

Question, "Why do some sensors have more wires than others?"

The answer is because they are heated, and to reduce interference. So, why do they need to be heated when they're in the exhaust stream? Early sensors were located in the manifold and thus didn't really have a problem heating up being so close. The drawback was, it didn't really recieve that good of an indicator as to what was really going on due to it sometimes only coming in contact with a couple cylinder's gasses. Over time, engineers realized that the oxygen sensor would read better if it was placed further away where the sensor could get a better mix.

The problem that was encountered after this was that the sensor didn't like to heat up fast enough. There are two problems with this,

                                                        1. the engine basically must assume the engine is lean and run rich to avoid damage, running rich is worse for the environment, and we want to cut this time as short as possible.

                                                        2. an oxygen sensor is damaged by being exposed to fuel when it isn't heated. SO, the sensors had to be replaced earlier sometimes as early as 45k miles.

All newer oxygen sensors are good for about 100,000 miles our more. Federal law states a vehicle manufacturer must replace ANY emmissions equipment that fails before 8 years or 80,000 miles regardless of how many owners there have been. So you can see why they'd not want this.

So here's the different wire setups

1 wire - One wire for the signal to the computer, sensor grounds through the exhaust

2 wire - One wire power for heater power, one is the signal to the computer, sensor grounds through exhaust

3 wire - One wire for heater power, one for heater ground, one for the signal to the computer, sensor grounds through exhaust

4 wire - One wire for heater power, one for heater ground, one wire for signal to the computer, one wire for grounding the sensor itself

UPDATE sa naganap sa pagpupulong kahapon (February 12, 2016) 10:00am, sa LTO kaugnay sa ipinagbabawal na LED Lights ng motorsiklo, at iba pang mga usapin.

                                                                          1. Ang naganap na pagpupulong ay pinangunahan ni Attorney JOED NATIVIDAD, Director ng Law Enforcement Service Division (LESD) ng LTO, at dinaluhan ng ilang mga leaders/riders, at ng inyong lingkod.

                                                                          2. Nabanggit muli ang naunang mungkahi na pahintulutan ng pamunuan ng LTO na makagamit o makapagdagdag ng 1 LED Bar para sa motorsiklo.

                                                                          3. Nagpresenta naman ang isang leader/rider, at ipinakita ang ilang mga probisyon ng Batas (RA 4136) na HINDI tinutukoy na 1 lamang na karagdagang ilaw ang pinapayagan nito, maaring 2 o higit pa;

                                                                          5. Ang lingkod po ninyo ay sumang-ayon sa ika 2 mungkahi na pahintulutang magdagdag ng 2 LED bars ng motorsiklo batay sa 3 mga pangunahing dahilan:

                                                                          a. WALANG tinukoy ang Batas na 1 lamang ang pwedeng idagdag na ilaw sa motorsiklo, maaring 2 o higit pa;

                                                                          b. MAAYOS na makikita ng mga Riders ang mga daanan partikular kung gabi, at ang mga lubak sa kalsada kung 2 ang LED Bars nito; at

                                                                          c. MAKIKITA agad ng ibang mga motorista ang motorsiklo. NAPAKAHALAGA nito para sa kaligtasan ng mga kapatid nating Riders.

Hindi natin pwedeng ipag-walang bahala ang libu-libong Pilipino na nadidisgrasya sa motorsiklo bawat taon. (Ito ay batay sa datos).

Let me get straight to the point. Though it was agreed upon by the riders present that TEMPORARILY, one auxiliary light is allowed, it poses a lot of problems if looked at in a different perspective... Let me explain...

Sa suggestion na ibinigay ng MCPF representative, na para daw mabilis ang usapan, why not just ask for ONE (1) auxiliary light while the discussion is ongoing for other provisions... That is ONE (1) unli LED basta single unit sya... Eto daw ang pinaka madaling way para ma pa approve ang request natin for auxiliary lights... To start the options, MRO suggested na gawing basis ang dami ng LED diodes (based on cree models of 12, 6 square, 6 straight, 4 and 3 led units available in the market) limit instead of just one LED unit so we have a choice between 2 6-LED units or 2 4-LED units or 2 3-LED units or just one 12 LED unit or what not... Then, we realized, there are LED's that have way too much power even if its just 1 LED, 3 LEDS, 4 LEDS, 6, 8, 12 and so on... So we retracted that suggestion...

The MCPF representative also retracted his one unli unit suggestion because he was convinced that it is not a viable option based on the accounts from another rider from Laguna... Though it was then argued by the different groups, it went back to the one LED unit as suggested...

The problem is this... Yes, one LED unit is not that bright... Or is it? Because that one unit can be a 6 LED, a single LED, a 12 LED or even a 72 LED for all we know... So if you allow a motorcycle to carry a single LED unit, you in effect, will allow a SUV the capability to install one unit but, it may have 72 LEDS... Fair? You know the answer...

So, in retrospect, the LED provision is still under scrutiny... How do we measure? By the unit? By the LED diodes? By the wattage? By the CD/CL? By the Lumens? How?

What is clear on the latest provision on auxiliary lights is:

RA 4136 states - Additional lamps and light may be carried, but no red lights shall be visible forward or ahead

                                                                            %d comments

                                                                              FOR SALE: (maybe)

I'm thinking about selling my 215cc FinBro engine kit with about 250 miles on it: 65mm bore with 64.9mm long-stroke crank with big-valve head. Price TBC, maybe about £700 shipped.

I also have a pair of forks (£90 shipped), front braking system (£40 shipped), front wheel & good tyre (£70 shipped), yokes (£30 shipped). All prices open to negotiation etc :)

I've given a sample picture of the engine kit below, greyed out bits are the items not included. This is actually a pic of my original 209cc kit, but many parts are the same or similar.

About the engine: I didn't get to finish running the 215cc engine in, but it felt very smooth and much stronger than the 209cc engine I previously ran for 5,000 miles. To give you an idea of power levels, the 209cc engine (with my VERY poor exhaust) would cruise at 80mph (sat upright, with rucksack), and top out at about 87mph. It would take steep hills, with a pillion, at 75mph. The 215cc engine felt MUCH better... I'm guessing around 23-25hp with a proper exhaust (a well matched Leo Vince system via FinBro for example).

I've said 'maybe' for sale above, because I haven't yet stripped the engine down to remove all the parts for sale. This will take me a good few hours of my time, hence I'll only do this if some one expresses an interest. Then I'll strip it, and give all the parts a full check over. While I am willing to help advise on fitting etc, with tools and so on, please don't expect me to spend 15ish hours doing a complete engine build as part of the package. I can, but it'll cost, plus I've no official qualifications (just experience), so if it doesn't work I can't be held liable etc. Hence why I'm not too willing to act as builder.

The kit consists of a fresh (250 miles) long-stroke FinBro crank, fitted with upgraded bearings all round and a forged con-rod for strength. The crank is balanced to match the forged piston, also with 250 miles on it. The barrel is bored out by FinBro and fitted with a much larger iron liner for better strength (avoiding think liner walls etc) with the massive bore size.

                                                                              %d comments

ABS: standard on all new bikes 125cc and above from 1st Jan 2016

The last few years have seen a steady stream of new models from the world’s main bike firms but over the next 12 months or so we’re expecting to see a huge glut of new and reworked machines.

Why? A combination of economic and legislative changes are combining to create ‘perfect storm’ conditions that will simultaneously cut down a wide swathe of older models and encourage their replacement with new bikes developed to meet developments in rules and tastes.

Let’s start with the easiest element of the situation; legislation. Much was made of the European regulations on the ‘approval and market surveillance of two- or three-wheeled vehicles and quadricycles’ over the painfully drawn-out process of their creation – proposals date back to 2010 and the final text was adopted in 2012 – but little mention has been made since, despite the fact they’ll significantly change many of the bikes we can currently buy.

While the actual documents make for difficult reading, filled with provisos and references to other pieces of legislation, the vast majority of the changes they introduce come into effect in two stages. The rules will first be applied to newly-developed bikes from 1 January 2016, the official date at which the regulations will come into force, while existing models will generally have until precisely one year later – 1 January 2017 – before they have to comply.

The key elements of the new rules are:

                                                                                      Euro 4 emissions limits

This is one of the changes that could sound the death knell for older bikes come the end of 2016, as Euro 4 rules are nearly twice as strict as the Euro 3 regulations that have been in place since 2006. The rules vary depending on performance, but for most full-size bikes carbon monoxide emissions, currently limited to 2.0g/km (grams per kilometre), drop to a maximum of 1.14g/km, while hydrocarbon limits drop from 0.3g/km to 0.17g/km and NOx falls from 0.15g/km to 0.09g/km. What’s more, the Euro 4 also introduces a durability test, so manufacturers need to prove that their engines can still meet the limits after 20,000km of use.

                                                                                      %d comments

It is clear that boasts to be the reference search.

Honda Forza 125Hasta now, Honda's previous experiences in the GT category of 125cc scooters have passed without standing out too much; first with the Pantheon of 2 and 4 stroke and, more recently, with the S-Wing. So, when the latter was descatalogó, and to the long time without covering your space, we thought it was going to withdraw from participating in this segment, but the truth is that he was preparing something big. We have already said once the benefits of being the last: you can analyze in detail your current competition and respond with something better.

A scooter created by Europeans for Europeans because, in principle, there is no intention to market outside Europe.

To get the best performance, Honda uses its "global" engine ESP (Enhanced Smart Power) and makes it even more "enhanced" (improved) mounting a new 4-valve head with greater compression than using the Scoopy, SH Mode and PCX for 14.28 hp at 8,750 rpm. Obviously, the improvement is accompanied by a new injection map reviewed by Honda to get a good compromise performance-consumption. And, of course, share the rest of the features of this engine: "cylinder offset" alternator-starter in a single element, light piston, attached to the left side, the support bearings rocker, idle stop rail, etc.

As far as equipment is everything: from a windshield that you can adjust the height with your hands, until a big hole 48 liters under the seat to hold two helmets, through a small deep glove box with power supply, very complete picture Instrument embossed lighthouse "full LED" no incandescent bulbs and ABS as standard.

People needlessly create new threads in an attempt to gain information on this topic, and without even thinking to use the forum search function and a general internet search tool first. Because of this, and to assist anyone that may need this information, I'm making this document in the hopes to create a place where people can gain a good general understanding for this subject. I will be describing two of the most popular methods of the break-in procedure you are likely to come across. The first I will call "Method A", which is the method provided by your engine manufacturer, and is usually found in the owner's manual for your specific vehicle. The second method discussed and outlined in this document will be referred to as "Method B", and has over recent years become a more widely accepted method for the proper "break-in" of the modern combustion engine. I have been studying about and working with engines for over 30 years, and I have paid especially close attention to the area of engine break-in. I've taken this experience and created this article and break-in procedure to assist anyone that my need this information. I have deliberately left out any extraneous technical details in order to keep this article concise and to the point. If you'd like to study this topic more in-depth just to quench your curiosity, a simple search on the net should get you what you need. I will include a rather well defined set of instructions in this article for what I consider to be proper break-in procedure for the modern motorcycle engine.

You may be wondering why proper break-in is so important, and why you should be interested in doing it correctly. In order to answer these questions and to help you gain a better understanding of the what, why, and how of engine break-in, I'll provide a little background information to give you a basic and fundamental understanding on the topic.

Here you maintenance guys go straight from the Buickguy himself. With over 100,000 miles logged on his 87 Wineberry Rebel. This is how he does it.

Here's the write up on the Super Secret Longevity Treament for your Rebel. No one can guarantee that the Rebel will go X number of miles but there are things you can do to make it "Live Long and Prosper"

Keep in mind, my Rebel isn't my first rodeo. I had a bunch of old crapcycles before the Rebel. Fixing other peoples messes gets old. The Rebel I got brand new and was determined that it wasn't going to be the rattling banging refugee from a scrapyard that all the used cycles I had were. My Rebel had the advantage of spending its off time in a garage. The heavy miles I put on were early in its life (87-93) and most of that time had the national 55 mph speed limit (yes everyone did 60-65, but still). And of course it benefited from my obsessive/compulsive nature.

                                                                                              So, here's the short list.

Change the oil. Change it often. No more than 1500 miles, 1000 is better. Change it before you store the bike and again when you get it out. I know there are no miles on it but show me where changing it will hurt. (For dedicated storage oil, any cheap 10W40 will do, its only going to run enough in the spring to warm up for the change)

Keep the air filter clean. Every oil change, wash the sponge element and re oil (first gen Rebels) Keep the air filter clean on your second gen.

Drain the "puke" tube. Drain it every oil change. Drain it more when riding in wet weather or at prolonged high speeds.

Replace the spark plugs. Every year at spring is a good time. I went to the CR7HS cooler plugs because most of my time was on freeway and highway runs. Never went back when the riding type changed.

Check the oil often. Keep it topped up. Check it when you start for the day, when you fill the gas and at the end of the day.

Did I mention to change the oil. Keep it checked and topped up too.

Check the chain. keep it clean and lubed. Adjust as needed, REPLACE with sprockets just before needed

                                                                                              %d comments

Photos from Murray Brown's post — Honda Shadow Aero

Recently I STRONGLY advised people to not choose National Cycle Products light bars due to poor design.

The saga with the National Cycle Products (NCP) light bar continues. First it was the mounting system. Incorrect for a 2004 Shadow 750 in placement on the triple tree and strength. That was cured by fabricating a stronger mount. Second was the light and turn signal mounting system used. Pathetic is a kind word. There is absolutely no way to mount the lights and turn signals without contorting one's body, arms, wrists and fingers in Houdini-like mannerisms. And you have to take everything apart to do the aiming, hope you get it correct, and don't screw up when you re-bolt everything back together again.

Regardless, after three days of fabricating and mounting and undoing and re-mounting and unbolting and remounting everything, all seemed well, until this past Sunday's trip with my bike club.

My speedo, odo, oil pressure, water temp and speedo backlight lights no longer operated when I left home. I wasn't overly concerned about the speedo, since I knew that our Road Captain would drive at the correct speed. But not having the odo for keeping track of the kms for refuel purposes was a concern. Hence, ensure a refuel mid-point of the day's outing of some 300 kms. While at the refuel (for me) spot, a club memberwanted to know why one driving light was pointing backwards. Crap; didn't know about that until he pointed it out.

Yesterday the w-h-o-l-e day was spent trying to figure out why the various lights weren't working. Went through 8 fuses trying to source the problem. The issue? If there is a short in the system, the 10A fuse for the "dash" cluster pops. A poorly welded mount left welding overspray, and the oblong hole in the tube hadn't been cleaned up properly. To add insult to injury, the cheap wire used by NCP's sub-contractors had paper thin outer coating. So, cleaning up the weld and rough edge items was in order last night.

Today was spent using "good" wire with much thicker outer coating, covered in shrink wrap, wound with 3M electrical tape, and sheathed in auto loom. Overkill, perhaps, but I absolutely hate electrical conniptions.

                                                                                                %d comments

This article is the 2nd in a series on understanding motorcycle suspension. Much of the technical material I'm going to share in this article has been provided to me by Rick Tannenbaum of Cogent Dynamics (Fletcher, NC). He is another true suspension Genius in our motorcycle world today. While he builds custom suspensions components for lots of dualsport bikes (DR, KLR, etc), he spends much of his professional time working with pro sportbikes on the race tracks. He has collaborated with Thomas Patch of Texton Preux, & many others to produce an excellent book (& school) called: A Suspension Experience. Rick has given me permission to share this information here, and it will be intermingled with some of my own opinion and commentary. I personally know he is quite intrigued with the WRR, but as of this writing (Nov 09) has yet to spend time on one. I think I can guess what will happen after that occurs. Anyway, let's get on with the article...

                                                                                                  Overview

Many assume their new bike is ready to ride as delivered from the factory to the showroom floor. Then, to increase performance most riders focus on adding power, but do little to actually tune their suspension. Motorcycle manufacturers commonly build bikes using a "one size fits all" approach. But you can often significantly transform a bike's ability to perform, as well as improve safety, by making a few simple adjustments to the suspension and geometry. The springs and geometry are the foundation for a bike's response to Rider Inputs. Preload compresses the spring before any weight is applied to it. Preload is adjusted to set Sag. Proper Sag setup provides sufficient suspension travel to absorb bumps, with enough travel held in reserve at the top of the stroke to keep the wheels firmly on the ground following a dip, bump, etc. Rebound damping prevents springs from overshooting and oscillating during recovery from bumps. Compression damping assists the springs to absorb braking forces, the impact of bumps, and overshooting during compression. There are many other variables to consider but the Rider is the biggest variable of all. Rider weight, body position, riding style, skill, & where you choose to ride all influence suspension decisions.

                                                                                                  %d comments

The message isn't that when better Harleys are made, Honda will make them, but simply that the classic American Roadster can be multinational, too." Somewhere outside of Tokyo, away from the flash and hustle that is the Ginza, lies Little Milwaukee. You won't find it on any tourist map, and indeed, the locals deny its very existence. But it's there. And in that tiny transplanted bit of the American heartland, they understand the blinding spark that forever welded together a big vee engine and the thought of street cruising in the collective conscious of generations of American street riders. Little Milwaukee didn't spring up overnight. A succession of factory customs, each a step closer to the original American role model, has been issuing from that region since the mid-Seventies. But despite the gradual increase of crypto-chopper design elements, from pullback bars to teardrop gas tanks and finally to big vee engines themselves, there's always been a reluctance to address Old Milwaukee outright. There still is. But with its 1982 Magna, Honda has' taken a giant step closer to the original. And unlike the last vees to emerge from Little Milwaukee, Yamaha's 750 and 920 Viragos, Honda has chosen a more literal styling interpretation in emulating the archetype. While the Viragos displayed a few of their own hi-tech touches, including Monoshock rear suspensions, the Magna affects a cast-in-the-same-mold-as-Harley look. Understand, though, that despite the Magna's subtle and not-so-subtle styling licks—from oversize, Harleyesque shock mounts to a stash-pouch toolkit to the strangely familiar sweep of its sissybar, the Magna is still emulation, not reproduction. It isn't a cloning of the gear that made Milwaukee famous. It couldn't be. For all the Magna's obvious adherence to the visual touchstones of the classic American street cruiser, beneath the cosmetic overlay it is a different breed entirely. True, the Magna's centerpiece is an eye-catchingly big vee, but its cylinders lie 90 degrees apart, not in the 45-degree configuration of a Harley-Davidson. And the Magna's powerplant, vee though it is, is liquid-cooled, with double overhead cams and four valves per cylinder—coupled to a shaft drive as well. Hardly a Harley—or even traditional—by anyone's standards. And consider the Magna's anti-dive front suspension, underseat secondary fuel tank, hydraulic clutch and six-speed gearbox. You won't find those on production Harleys—or as a part of the mystique of the ail-American street bike. No, those elements more properly belong to the genre of sport motorcycles, which must include the Magna as well. Its credentials for membership are not inconsiderable: Start from the fact that the Magna's -^engine is identical to the Sabre's, down to ~i ams, valves and even internal gear ratios (see story page 58). Only the Magna's air-box, exhausts and final reduction ratio (to compensate for its shorter 16-inch rear tire) distance the two engines. Then add in double discs with Honda's twin-piston calipers and Torque Reactive Anti-dive Control to make better use of the brakes by slowing the bike's tendency toward fork compression under hard braking. What you've got in the Magna is a custom, all right, by virtue of the recognized sizes, shapes and general configuration. But what's underneath the makeup labels it a high-performance bike. Split the difference and call it a high-performance custom, and the way it delivers its performance is as re--_^mote from the classic American roadbike as the way it opens its valves. A touch of the Magna's starter button (^confirms the Honda's separate identity. With the thumb-operated choke full-on, a few seconds of starter whine is followed not by the rolling thunder of an H-D lighting up, but with a sound more like a BMW idling at three grand. Little mechanical noise on our test bike could be heard above the exhaust note—a function of the exhaust itself as well as the engine's coolant jackets. Feeding in the Magna's hydraulically actuated clutch doesn't offer as much feel as working most mechanical clutches, and until you learn that the progression of clutch engagement is more rapid than most, rollaways from a full stop can be a little abrupt. It's a short learning experience, though, since the engagement is consistent and not jerky if the rider does his part. And if he doesn't, the lesson is likely to be equally short—by reason of a fried clutch. Our test bike devoured two cluches in eight dragstrip runs. Once the engine's running and in gear, though, there's a graphic reminder of why Honda built this vee-four in the first place. Considerable torque is on hand from about 3000 rpm on up, and any shift point up to the Magna's 10,000-rpm redline can be used without bogging the engine. The combination of the perfect primary balance of a 90-degree vee engine and rubber engine mounts means that precious little vibration reaches the rider. The engine's operation is so smooth that keeping an eye on the tachometer makes good sense, since the Magna happily will run into the red zone if you grab a handful of throttle. That willingness to rev extends to the Magna's freeway attitude as well. Even lugging along in the Magna's tall sixth gear—"OD" for overdrive, as the blue indicator light on the dash panel calls it— the bike will accelerate strongly in response to throttle. All the while the mirrors are dead-calm; and with the reservoired rear suspension set at its softest preload and six-to-eight psi in the fork, the Magna offers a stable freeway ride that's still a touch too stiff at the rear end. The major machine glitch in cruising came when the Magna's bank of 32mm Keihin carburetors produced lean surge in steady running between 6000 to 7000 rpm. Our test Sabre (with identical carbs) suffered no such problems, so we will check out the Magna and report the findings in our After The Fact column. But if machine shortcomings for highway cruising are few, among them must be counted the Magna's riding position, billed by Honda as "the most laid-back riding position yet designed for a custom motorcycle." While the exaggerated riding position, mostly the result of the bike's forward-mounted footpegs, works surprisingly-well in casual sport, around-town or short-distance riding, it limits the Magna's effectiveness as a long-legged freeway mount. The hump in the seat offers welcome back-support, but the combination of pullback bar and forward footpegs turns a long haul on the Magna into just that: a long haul into the wind to stay upright. And after a few hundred miles of freeway riding, the required isometric posture takes its toll in tired shoulders and wrists. Keepin the rubber down!

Lots of guys asking or it seems to be a constant as we all swap out our Reg/Rec so for those who don't already know, or need more info, here is a fault finding piece on Rec/Reg and I normally post all these kinds of files in Firestorm Appreciation Group but we all need help sometimes and not everyone has the time or CBA to put files in here.

Here you go :: you have three main sections to the charging system which consist off the Battery, Regulator/Rectifier and the Stator. For the purposes of this write up I will be referring to the Stator mostly as the Alternator/Generator as it's the job of the Stator to alternate/generate current to the Rectifier where it is converted from an alternating current (AC) and and into the Regulator as a direct current (DC) where it is fed back into the Battery.

First off before you go running through the following tests, if you are having any electrical/charging problems then check that all electrical terminals/connectors are all tight and secure and there are no signs of either breaks or burning in the wiring or connectors. Also make sure that no water has got into any of these and caused any excess corrosion.

To do a thorough test of the charging system or other electrical items you will require the use of a Multimeter and/or a 12v Test Light. A Multimeter if used correctly is going to give you more accurate results where as a test light will only give you an approximate result according to either the brightness of the bulb or if the bulb lights up or not.

With the Battery on the bike and connected and set your Multimeter to 20v DC. Your basically setting the meter to the next nearest number that covers the maximum range that you are testing for. Put the Red probe on the the positive (+) terminal and Black to negative (-) earth terminal and check the initial Battery voltage. It should read anything above 12.3v but under 13.2v but ideally between 12.6 - 12.9 DC volts is required. Any less than this, you will start to encounter starting problems as the Battery will not have enough juice to turn the big twin motor over. The majority of Battery power is required for cranking the engine over from cold.

Riding a motorcycle is dangerous. Luckily, bikes also give you the best possible tools to avoid crashing — incredibly powerful brakes, obstruction-free vision, excellent handling and very gripy tires. Here’s how to use those tools, and your very own brain, to avoid one of these common motorcycle accidents.

                                                                                                          Motorcycle Safety:

Want to reduce your odds of dying in a crash? Get educated. New riders should complete a basic rider course from the MSF or similar while advanced tuition is available at race tracks. It can be cheaper than you fear.

Safety gear doesn’t just help prevent injury in a crash, but can make riding more comfortable, put you in better control of your bike and help you be seen by other drivers. Bright colors on your helmet and jacket/suit will help car drivers see you, potentially avoiding some of the common accidents detailed below.

A Car Turns Left In Front Of You

The most common motorcycle accident. A car fails to see you or judges your speed incorrectly, turning in front of you at an intersection. Blame inattention, distraction, blind spots and even psychology; a driver looking for cars perceives merely an absence of cars, not the presence of a motorcycle.

How To Avoid It: Simple, you just need to see it coming. Part of your job as a motorcyclist is to develop a precognitive sixth sense. Look for signs that could indicate someone may turn in front of you: a car is at an intersection waiting to turn, there’s a gap in traffic near an intersection, driveway or parking lot. In either situation, slow down, cover your brakes and get ready to take evasive action. Yes, you do need to take something as innocuous as a car waiting in a turn lane as a major and immediate threat to your life. You also need to account for objects outside of your vision. Gaps in traffic indicate the possibility of someone coming through that gap, even if you can’t see them. Again, MAJOR THREAT, PREPARE FOR EVASIVE ACTION.

                                                                                                          %d comments

Brakes.....your best friend? Or worst enemy? In light of James Brown's mishap this week, I'll tell a few of my self-inflicted "ups" and "downs" and why they went the way they went. Feel free to chime in with your own examples.

The reason I point this out - and this is NOT a pick on James at all - recognizing the actions you took are IMPERATIVE to becoming better riders so we don't have these things happen going forward, wherever possible. I love that James is resolved to get right back on the horse! This is important! But, it is also equally important to absolutely DISSECT every aspect of our own actions when stuff like this happens. That's why I jumped in on the other thread. The mere existence of the stop sign may have been the instigating factor, but the reason WHY he went down is what we need to look at for future preventive reasons and learning process. Our lives depend on this. Every single time we ride.

                                                                                                              1. gravel road / Geico Rabbit. Yep, even though I told myself I would just hit it if it came out into the road...at the last minute, he did, and I put on the front brakes, and lowsided myself. Gravel + front brakes, generally not a great combination, must use extreme caution when doing any braking while on gravel. Slow speed of course, no damage to the bike. Now I live where there are vast amounts of Geico Squirrels - I am now WELL PRACTICED in just running em' over and staying off the brakes. Lesson: If you must brake on gravel, braking with the rear is much better than a handful of front brake, even going straight. Lesson two: practice running over squirrels, rabbits, and small animals. This is very HARD to do for some of us, but in the end, it is much safer generally for YOU than braking and/or swerving for something small.

                                                                                                              2. 25 mph, accelerating as I had just come around the corner making a left hand turn: Truck came in on me from three lanes away and tagged my highway bar and mirror. My response in order to avoid him hitting me: dove the bike left (he was on the right) as far as I could without crashing into the raised rock median to my left, and emergency braked front and rear and KEPT THE BRAKES ON UNTIL I WAS STOPPED. And yes, they were locked up. This is the ONLY reason I did NOT go down - and the fact he stopped coming over once he tagged me, plus not having built up a lot of speed yet. Had I released the brakes prior to stopping, I would have gone down without question. The truck realized he hit *something* and moved back into the lane next to me. Once stopped, I then took off and made the truck driver pull over and chewed some ASS. Boy was he sorry.

                                                                                                              %d comments

There are many contributing factors affecting how a bike feels and how it handles and what it will do when you're: on the gas... on the brakes... in a turn... or going down a straight. I will define a few terms and try to demystify what geometry is all about.

Rake is the angle most people know about, it is the relationship of the front forks to the ground.

Trail is the distance the contact patch of the tire trails behind the point projected through the Steering Axis to the ground. It acts a lot like the front wheel of a shopping cart.

Wheel base is the distance from one Axle to the other.

Rake, Trail and Wheel base are in most magazine articles but they are only half of the story... The following measurements are equally or even more important factors affecting stability and traction of a motorcycle.

Steering head to Swing arm pivot is a measurement most people seldom hear about yet, it is a very important number.

Swing arm angle is pretty self explanatory and is more important them most people can imagine.

Axle height is affected by the tires actual diameter it also affects Rake, Trail and Swing arm angles

Lowering the front or rear of a bike by as little as 5 mm can be the difference between a setting that works and one that wont. How often do you hear a race was won after they finally got the bike suspension or chassis figured / sorted out? All of a sudden the lap times come down and from there it is history.

When you raise the back of the bike it will reduce the Rake and Trail. It will make the bike turn in faster but how will it affect rear wheel Traction? and Stability? But, how was the bike raised in the rear? If you lengthened the rear shock you also increased the swing arm angle and shortened the wheel base... On the other hand if you put on a taller tire like the Dunlop 195 then you have reduced the swing arm angle and did not change the wheel base...

What happens if the front end is Lowered I.E. the forks are moved so more of them stick out above the triple clamps. This reduces the Rake, Trail, Wheel base and it also reduces the swing arm angle... A smaller front tire will do the same although it will not noticeably affect the wheel base.

                                                                                                                    %d comments

                                                                                                                        12.) heat guard on 86 has 4 slots while a 85 has 3

16.) 86 head has better oil flow for the cam

17.) decals different (on rear mud flap, no "side" decals on 86

20.) carbs have some different stock jets, definitely the pilot jet. (the 86 carb has a additional "pilot" jet to aid in starting)

21.) kick starter shaft gear ratio changed between 85 and 86

22.) cam chain adjusters different (86 is smaller, not sure if redesigned to assist with the clutch cable routing)

23.) clutch cables themselves different. rubber notch on 86 to go in bracket, metal spring shielding on a 85

24.) bottom triple tree on a 86 has a grey plastic "pinch point" guard over the steering stops.

25.) 85 rear shock has a black adjuster knob on the reservoir... the 86 knob is gold.

26.) 3 generations of frames. The later 86 frames are the best. They have increased gusseting to help keep the frames snapping on the left side above the motor mount.

27.) muffler mounting by grab bar... one bolts direct on, other has a "post" it slides over. Forget which year is which... forgive me?

28.) rear axle bearing carrier is different. 85 has the spanner wrench on, 86 has a place to adjust by plugging wrench in and pulling back with the wrench.

                                                                                                                        %d comments

I have two similar bikes: a 2000 Shadow ACE 1100T and an 04 Shadow 750. I'm currently experiencing starting problems with both.

I've trickle-charged both batteries to full and then documented the symptoms from there. I have limited knowledge of mechanics, but I know this is my learning experience and I'm building that knowledge base. I think I'll probably need to get a voltmeter before this is all over.

On the 04 750 the battery appears to be fully charged with no problem charging and holding the charge long-term. The battery is not, but has not given me any problems yet.

I turn the key and all dashboard and headlights come on strong. I press the ignition button and it ticks rapidly but won't turn over. The lights and dashboard electronics flicker and the mileage trip meter resets.

Several wks ago it did this for one or two days, but we push-started it just fine. Then a day or two later it started regular with no problem, and started again when we tested it after we got back from our short ride. A week later, wouldn't start again, same problem.

Now, it has successfully push-started and stayed running every single time until I cut the engine off. I figure its either a loose wire somewhere in the process between the ignition bike and the engine turning over, or a blown fuse (which I haven't bothered to check yet). Could it be spark plugs...since the ignition ticks rapidly when pressing the bike, I assume it's trying to fire something, but I don't know much about spark plugs.

Now for the 2000 ACE: it has a new battery, within the last 3 mths. The battery required has proper fluid (acid/water) that I filled per instructions when I installed it, and the bike ran fine after that until recently. The levels appear to be full, at the correct level.

I trickle-charged it overnight, about 24 hours, and then attempted to start. The first time I charged it up to full several wks ago when the problem first started, after it was charged, when I unplugged it and didn't start, I think I remember trying to start it after plugging the charger back on to it, and memory serves me, IT STARTED. Again, I don't 100% remember, but after disconnecting the charger, I'm pretty sure I let it run for about 5 mins and then cut off the engine, tried it again, and it started successfully that second time.

                                                                                                                          %d comments

They developed the bike as a result of years of development and synergies by Honda to address the needs of the American market. I believe most riders will agree it is the best bike Honda has made to date.

Today, Honda Shadows are ranked among the best cruiser bikes in the world. There are currently six different Honda Shadow models, including the Honda Shadow Sabre, Spirit, Aero, Spirit 750, VLX and VLX Deluxe. All Honda Shadows are reasonably priced, but still provide riders with the performance and comfort your looking for in a cruiser.

The Shadow Spirit is a cruiser taking its styling cues from classic choppers of old. A pullback handlebar, bobbed rear fender, cruiser footpegs and a powerful V-twin engine make this as fun to stare at as it is to ride.

                                                                                                                            Honda Shadow Spirit 750:

One look at the Shadow Spirit 750 is all it takes. Thrilling looks inspired by radical street-rod styling - this bike is all about cool. And with its 745cc V-twin engine, it has more than enough muscle to back it up.

                                                                                                                            Honda Shadow Aero:

The retro Shadow Aero features a powerful 750cc v-twin engine, very low seat height, shaft drive and the full-sized looks and performance of classic cruiser styling from days of old.

                                                                                                                            Honda Shadow Sabre:

From its cast-aluminum wheels and chromed fork to its gorgeously sculpted fenders, the Shadow Sabre takes hot-rod styling to a whole new level. And with a potent yet smooth 1099cc mill pumping out heaps of V-twin muscle, this baby goes as good as it shows.

                                                                                                                            Honda Shadow VLX

A hardtail-style rear suspension. One of the lowest seat heights in our entire cruiser lineup. A powerful 583cc V-twin. The Shadow VLX is the definition of cool.

See what others are saying about Honda Shadows:

Meanwhile, people are actually buying the smaller models in droves; Honda’s 750cc Shadow ACE was in fact the best-selling model in the company’s street motorcycle lineup for 2002.
