Come home lastnite to find my battery has grown a wee bit any suggestions why. I've changed the reg/rec last year for a finned one just hope it hadn't gone again. Not a happy bunny

  • Looks like a loose yellow wire terminal from the alternator created high resistance which melted the connector and fooled the rectifier that the battery needed more power...

  • That RR is tiny, no wonder it overheated - or you've got huge hands!

  • That's huge.

  • Small rec I think. Lol

  • Why thank you sir :p

  • I've just bought one of those battery's

  • There a pain in the arse you have to fit the connectors to the battery yourself. Well odd. Apart from that it was working fine. Carnt fault the battery thoe.

  • You have too fit the battery terminals on yourself. Which is odd never had to do that. What I would recommend is that you lock tight them to the battery as mine where lose when taking it out today. All will become clearer when you have battery there in front of you.

  • Loose battery connection wont do your RR any favours!

  • "I've changed the reg/rec last year for a finned one "

As in a later model OEM VTR1000F "fined" R/R which is ancient style diode based?

Or a MOFSET "finned" Shunt style R/R like the FH20?

Or a modern MOFSET "finned" Series style R/R like the SH847 Series R/R

In any case that's a battery plate failure (shorted) or a R/R failure that is overcharging ..both an easy diagnosis
