Does anyone else have problems with angle sensor for electric shift when you get in too much water?

I hit some deep holes and it starts to blink at me and won't shift until it sits 5mins and drys up. This sensor is only 6 months old. Any solutions?

  • Thanks Roy

  • I grease the area where it bolts to the motor plus the connector. Just in case the oring ever leaks a little.

  • I wondered the trick. There had to be a way.

  • How often?

  • If I put a foot shifter o my 06 es rancher it doesn't mess with the electric shift? Someone told me it did

  • You should only have to grease it once and your good until your remove it. The same with all the electrical connectors. Keenan if you foot shift yours it will go into safe mode and flash on the display. It can be done though if the ES system is giving a lot of problems.

  • What's safe mode? And are you saying it won't hurt it?

  • Safe mode/limp mode, when the display flashes at you and the ES system doesn't work anymore. If your planning on converting it remove the reduction gear from the shift motor so it's easier to shift. No your not going to hurt it unless you shift wrong (which can be done on the manual shift model as well).

  • Ok and where would I find the reduction gear and how do I remove it

  • Front of the motor under the small cover that the shift motor is bolted to.
