Got the bike finally and it's running and sounds good!

I do have a Battery Question. My battery "died" on me this weekend. I hooked it up to a tender and after about 5hrs (went from solid red to solid green) I could start the bike without issue and let it run for about 20 minutes. Upon shutting it down and hooking the tender back up it was solid red again, although I can still start the bike no problem.

-Shouldn't the 20 minutes of run time kept the battery fully charged?

-Is the battery probably on its last legs?

-Am I reading to much into the tender indicator lights (blink red means toast, solid red means needs charging, blinking green means 85%, solid means 100%)

-what's a good way to tell if the battery is on its way out? Last thing I need is to be stranded somewhere.

    • I have a 98 ace

    • It's solid green, took about 1.5 hours this time

    • Give it a shot brother if it works ride on.

    • My 97 ace vt1100c2 symilar problem, after checking that the charging system is fully operational,I did a battery test, with the battery fully charged,I did a start test with the multimeter hooked up to the battery when cranking the bike the battery should not go below 10v mine went down to 9v,by the third cranking test within 5 minutes the volts dropped to 8.3,that is a definite indication that the battery is busy dying.

    • Check your battery with a load tester.

    • They dont charge at idle. So while idling you are running off the battery.

    • Oh ok, that's good to know

    • I found that out with a brand new bike practicing for my cycle liscence battery died too the bike back to the dealer told him what I was doing he said take it for a run keeping rpm above 2500 so it will charge battery. They dont charge below 2000 rpm is what he told me.

    • Where u get that light set up

    • Ron is correct!

    • MY BATTERY PLUS DOES SAME THING EVERY TIME I GET HOME AND PLUG IT IN NO MATTER HOW FAR I RIDE GOES TO GREEN IN LIK 5 OR 10 MINUTES 1 YEAR OLD BATTERY SO I WOULD SAY IT IS NORMAL

    • I made the bracket myself from a flat piece of aluminum and bought a set of 3 inch led fogs. The headlight is from a jeep. Which I also had to modify to mount in .it was a process but I was determined

    • I'd get a new battery
