Hey Fellas. Just doing up a 6 volt 82 postie with points and running into problems, no spark. Setting the points gap had no effect. I looked in the battery compartment and there is no battery and 5 wires not connected to anything. One red, two black/white and 1 green coming out of the same loom and another green. Will these things run without a battery and where are these wires supposed to go?

    • On my 1980 that I swap a ssr pit bike engine into it, I had to have the battery connected in order for it to spark, makes no sense considering the batter is dead but that was my problem

    • I know the black and white on top of the picture that is splice together is the coil

    • Also go here for wiring diagrams

    • I ebcountered a similar problem on a z50 with a 6v battery, indicators and etc. I connected the black wires and it started - give that a crack.

    • You will need a working battery in order to get spark have a look at a wiring diagram and you should be able to figure it out!
