Hi, i have remus cans on my storm, but they are very faded an worn and not so good looking anymore. How could i get the carbon to look better, or is it possible to buy just the carbon "pipe" that goes around the muffler??

  • yes pj engineering in the uk

  • Thanks m8

  • Carbon wrap it/clear coat it or replace the tubes.

  • Easier than all that is this:

  • It goes on easily and makes carbon look as good as new. You only need a tiny bit so it lasts for ages

  • depends if the carbon has degraded to the point where it needs replacing

  • Will that stuff bring back a nice gloss? I have some of that somewhere

  • It will make it look a lot better than it does. I re-lacquered mine with high temp clear paint. It worked ok but needed constant polishing to bring it up to scratch

  • When you say constant did it ever look like it had lost its sheen?

  • Yes, about a week after polishing it

  • I see. Worth the effort?

  • Not really for the hassle, it never looked quite how it left the Akra factory, but it was better than the dry burnt look before I did it

  • I may give it a go, sounds like it cant hurt :) cheers for the advice

  • All of that is in reference to the re-lacquering, which was a complete pita. The Auto Glym stuff makes it look a lot better for a lot less effort!

  • The heat has taken its toll on the weave and the resins inside, unless regularly re-packed, these are goosed. I used to work at Micron by the way.

  • The whole muffler is steel, the carbon fibre is just like a sleeve that goes around the metal pipe, but that doesn't seem to be the case on all mufflers like the once pj enigeering makes where the carbon pipe itself seems ro be the outer shell if you know what i mean
