Ok here's a question and kinda hard to explain maybe. It's electrical...had problems last year with fuses blowing, rectifier fried etc. long story short I took it to a mechanic along with the wiring diagram. Well he couldn't find a switch that should be in line with the main wiring harness that goes to the radiator fan. The fan ran ALL THE TIME which could account for the electrical problems. So he wired in a manual switch I can turn on when it gets hot. My question is is there a difference between the wiring harness from a 929 and 954?

Question, I need to change the chain kit on my 929. Now it's running a 16/42 ratio, that's how i bought it and it seems it's very popular in Europe since 70% of sellers offer this setting, stock it's 16/43. I saw that most people recomend -1/+1, -1/+2 or -1/+3, since I'm satisfied with what I have now, but obviously want a bit more, I'm thinking at a 15/43 ratio. I'm sticking the stock 530 chain.

Also, I'm looking for tyres, my favorite now is Dunlop Sportmax SportSmart II, buy I'm not 100% sure with the choice.

            Ideas ?

            Thanks.

HATE TO DO THIS. I'm letting go of 01 929. Was building one from the ground up.

Hear is a list of stuff done to it

              New fork seals

              New stator and rectifier

              New battery

10 in stretch kit with a racing chain

New front and back VN sprocket

1 down in the front and 2 down in the back.

Motor has all new parts. Just needs bored.

Few spares parts tank wind screen.

Tool bag, helmet, spare key and the remote for the amber lights. That has three different settings.

New front and back tires, new brakes and brake lines. I know I'm forgetting something. Just ask. $1500 OBO

This is my 01 929rr, I've posted pics before but this time I'm looking for some advice? I have done everything that I could do to this thing except mess around with the engine. I'm looking for some advice on changing the carbs, cams, and valves. It has around 33,000 miles on it but has been well maintained. What advice would you have on this? Rebuild the motor while I'm at it or what? I love this thing almost as much as my family so I want to do it right..Lol.. Any feedback on parts, brands, etc.. would be greatly appreciated! Thanks for this awesome group....

Hey guys, a couple of months ago i bought cbr 929 with full exhaust system + k&n filter without power commander. From 2000rpm - 5500 rpm it runs very very lean and after 5500 it is going to rip off my arms. The fuel consumption is about 8-12 liters per 100km which i think is a lot. My question is if i buy a pc and go to dyno is the bike gonna run smoother in the lower rpms?

Does anyone else find it difficult to ride around town, my 929does 65mph in 1st, topped out. But when I shift, at like 25mph, my 2nd gear seems to bog until after 6500rpm, then it takes off like a rocket. Speed is definitely not the problem, it's riding through my neighborhood where the speed limit is 25mph. 1st is too erratic and 2nd bogs or wants to idle at 60mph.

Need some help guys. Gotta 01 929 that tries to start but won't catch. I have verified spark on all 4 plugs/coils. If I spray starter fluid down the throttle bodies it will fire up and run until it burns it all off. The fuel pump does prime when you flip the key on. Fresh gas, no cheap shit. I thought it was the fuel pressure regulator and disconnected the vacuum line from the TB to the Forum and it would start. I started it up several times throughout the day and everything was good. I thought I had it until yesterday I go out to fire it up and let it run before I change the oil but now it will not start again. Same symptom, will crank but not start. It tries to start but doesn't. Fuel pump still primes. If I disconnect the fuel line from the tank to the FPR and flip the key, the pump does push fuel our of the regulator as it would return it to the tank. So I'm confused. Plugs looked good when they were out. I did wire brush them clean but no major soot or wear. 50k miles on the engine. Any ideas?

My 2001 cbr 929rr is acting funny. At low rpm it's acting like there's a miss fire. I recently drove back from Tampa in the rain. Did I mess up my spark plugs? I thought I had water in my tank. But I have refilled it 3 times since then. Only run supreme fuel (92). It has 13,600 miles on it. I changed the oil like a month and a half ago. Only use full synthetic mobile 1 oil. Can some one lmk whats wrong? Also on a cold start it's hard to turn on. Even with a full tank. It only goes up to 100 mph. It struggles to get there. Before it was doing 150 easily. Please comment for help. Thank you and ride safe!

                                Recently i picked up a 21.000 miles 929.

There where no issue when i test rode it, but now a few days later, there is...

in 2 and 3 gear it "jumps" almost feels like the chain is skipping some teeth, and it olny does it under hard throttle.. It stayed in gear.. The chain and sprockets looks fine..

But today it got really weird. It did the same thing, but also popped out of gear into neutral. And even 2 times in second gear, it shifted into third, without even touching the gear lever

                                What the hell is happening???

Sent him the money via PayPal but haven't received anything. Last week I asked if he shipped it and got "you haven't received it yet?" Have been trying to contact him to find out tracking number or even a reason it hasnt been shipped yet (because yes i know things can come up and wouldnt be mad if i got a reasonable answer) but no response. Would love to know what going on so I can file for a refund with pay pal since there is a time limit to do so. If anyone is personally friends with him can you relay this post. Won't let me tag him. I usually don't write posts like this but it is the only piece I'm missing, then I can do a full respray on my bike and ride again also don't want anyone else to go through this if purchasing from him.

Clean title. 39,436 Miles on the speedometer

We just built this bike from the frame up, The motor had the normal 929/954 broken case underneath the stator cover- we had it welded, but unfortunately the motor ran too long after losing oil and it now has a very bad knock. The motor will be taken apart for inspection and parted out also. It either has a broken rod or it threw a bearing from the sounds its making. We are cutting our losses with this one and moving on. We have two clean title frames available, and multiples of many oem parts. Black vinyl "alligator" seats, chrome rims, the fairings are in good shape also.Tank has a dent on the left side, forks will need seals as they are leaking.Brand new OEM 2 piece front fairing stay bracket just purchased last week. If you need anything please send a personal message. This is a part out, i am not looking to sell the bike as one unit. Thanks!

Quick question guys. I just replaced both my stator and rectifier about 2 weeks ago now. Was out riding it the other day and as I was getting on the throttle all of a sudden the bike just cut out and the FI light came on as though I just turned the bike on and was gonna start it, then it just cut back on and ran again. Had it out today for a little bit to see if it happened again and it did. This time paying more attention to it there is also a delay in my throttle response after it cuts in and out. If anyone has had this problem or knows where I can start to troubleshoot the situation I am have would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys

The first one is under the main seat next to battery and the second is all 3 next to the speedo. The larger one has all green wires and is taped off. Right now I have only low beam and no turn signals. No indicator light for either. Also I have no signals hooked up right now (one of the parts that are coming soon) but the indicator light should still come up on the cluster right? Yes I already checked fuses and soldering connections on the start switch. Any help is appreciated and thank you in advance.

I am parting out my 2001. I had a low speed low side and decided to take the $ I received from the insurance company, and part the bike out. Any damage was to the right side of the bike. I have a Penske rear shock fully rebuilt in 2013 (maybe 500 miles on it), front forks with AK-20 internals, Corbin rider and passenger seat, black SATO rear set, Brembo front brake lever, SS front brake lines, etc. The engine has 35K miles on it. Immaculately maintained. I think the most it went between oil changes was about 2200 miles. I've run full synthetic since about 4,000 miles. The left hand side lower and mid fairing are in excellent condition. Passenger pegs, front gear shift lever/peg, front brake lever/peg stock can and stock shock also in excellent condition. Let me know if you are interested.

HERE ARE MY INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO FIT THE APE RACING CCT!!!!

Ok so here it goes, this is long winded so I apologize in advance, have cold beer on hand & a mate to help - preferably one who can keep you from losing your shit thanks Paul Buckle. Remove all r/h side fairings (throttle side), remove fuel tank, fuel lines, breather lines & 1 wiring plug (im assuming its for the low level light) using line clamping pliers is handy for the fuel lines. Remove the air filter box assy, inside the r/h side of the frame there is the main wiring harness, unplug the 3 plugs above the cct, (I believe one is for the TPS) this should give you enough movement in the main harness to get it to sit on top of the fuel rail & give you more room to get to the cct. Now I didn't have my engine at TDC on cyl#1. So no

                                                un-necessary moving the bike.

Remove the TPS, but before you do mark its location, the bolt holes that hold it in are elongated which allows for adjustment, so i stress to mark it. Its held in with two Torx bolts, T25 / T27 from memory.

Remove the standard cct. One bolt is a bit harder than the other to get to (i think it was the upper one) so take that one out first. These bolts are 8mm, 1/4 inch ratchet, wobble extensions & uni-joint were handy, i also ground down a 8mm spanner. I initially measured the old cct & set up the APE CCT to the same spec, it almost ran out of adjustment so i ditched that method. Install the APE CCT, you will need to adjust it in about half way to get it to fit, with out having the adjuster bolt fouling on the frame.

Wind the tensioner in, until you feel it make contact with the chain guide, keep winding it in by hand, until you can no longer adjust it.

For the next part i had the spark plugs out, so im not working against compression.

Turn the motor over slowly & adjust tensioner the whole time, by hand, keeping tension on the chain. Until your happy you have done at least one full rotation of the engine. Turn the adjuster in 1/2 turn & lock it in place. (2 x 5/8 spanners)

We turned our engine over by lifting the rear wheel off the ground, putting into high gear & turning rear wheel in normal direction of rotation.

Hey guys, I've got a 02 929rr and I am in need of some help. I'm currently on a long group ride right now. At the beginning of the day my headlight indicator on my cluster went out for a second along with my blinker indicator on my cluster. My blinkers still worked but my orange light on the cluster did not blink like it usually does. Headlight did not work at all. I got off the bike and turned it off then went in the store and came back out and turned it on and all of a sudden it worked again. Then about 20 miles later down the road the same thing happened. All my fuses are good. Anyone know what my issue could be? Thanks.

So I'm going to help Jermayne Dashawn Doolittle work on his cbr this morning. It has a miss and I think it's just a maintenance issue. He put a new cdi in yesterday and it's still missing. Anyway, I just wanna do what hasn't been done maintenance wise. Now on my Suzuki you have to sync the throttle position sensor every 10,000 or so miles. You just put it in dealer mode and there is a gauge on the lcd that tells you which way to adjust it and when it is correct. Do honda's not have a similar procedure for syncing the tbs? I know I can just use a bolt meter but if there is a on board feature like my Suzuki then obviously that's the way to go.

Hey guys, I'm picking up my 2001 cbr929rr tomorrow and have a question. It has a full yoshimura exhaust and no power commander, and an FI light on. Was told the FI light was due to the servo not being hooked up. I have a stock exhaust for it at home but it's about a 40 minute drive from where I am picking it up, what are the risks of driving it that long with those issues? I'd rather not drive it but having a difficult time finding a truck.

Gday guys, i have a question. I know its not a 929 but it is bike related. My old man has dumped his old faithful in my shed, it hasn't been run for at least ten years. But I've gapped & cleaned the plugs, next step is to turn the donk over (by hand of course with plugs removed) then if it's free, i'll dump the oil & bang a new filter on. Sorry, my question is, what's the best method for flushing out the old gunky oil? I've heard people mention a mix of oil, kerosene/ diesel or even degreaser. Any suggestions would be great. Cheers

                                                          FYI it's a 1980 Suzuki GS1000.
