    Hey all,

So I bought this speedo on eBay because a few people on here said they bought one similar and was able to hook it up. But just glancing at it, everything on it is electronic. There is no place for the speedo cable or anything like that. So can anyone give me a hint as to what I need to do or buy? It also comes with a wiring diagram for everything and I can post that if needs be. Thank you

Gents - and ladies if applicable - I am searching for a nice CX650 Custom in the USA , to export to me here in New Zealand . We didnt get any of the 650 variants officially , and I have never seen a Custom here ( but I do have 3 Euros ) at all. I am after a low mileage , rust-free , clean title , genuine nice bike , all preferably more west coast than east coast for shipping purposes ,but anywhere that fits the criteria is fine . I dont want a bike that needs rebuilding , but tyres and minor stuff is probably ok. The cost to ship a dog is the same as shipping a concourse example so why buy a rough one ? Any one have any assistance to offer would be much appreciated . Thanks in advance , muzza in nz. Oh - I would prefer a red one - they go faster , right ? , but black is fine too.

Hello, I dont know if this post is acceptable in here or not, if not please remove. I am by profession a fastener specialist with nearly 40 years experience of Stainless Fasteners. I run a mail order website (parts all priced up). It specialises in Stainless covering old Brit threads, Metric fine and extra fine, Unified inc UNEF thread. There are approx 11000 different fasteners on offer. The website address is www.stainlessautomotivefastenings.co.uk. Hopefully this information will be useful to builders and restorers alike, even if it is only for the very difficult parts to get. Many thanks for reading

To Australian. and NZ. maybe. if you re nice. CX owners builders — Honda cx500 650 v twin facebook page

To Australian (and NZ... maybe... if you're nice) CX owners/builders,

I'm in talks with Murrayf in the US about shipping over a rear 16" wheel, since they're as rare over here as the 18's are over there.

It made sense to see if anyone else would be interested? I may get several shipped over and sell them on Murray's behalf.

I don't have details on cost, nor shipping yet. I doubt the outlay for the wheel itself will be much (they're on US ebay for $10-50 USD), and shipping will be dependent on how many people, and what shipping method. For example, if 20 people want wheels (and if Murray has that many) it'd be by boat, but cheap.

So, this thread is an expression of interest thread.

Would you be interested in a 16" rear?

    I have a couple of questions — Honda cx500 650 v twin facebook page

I have a couple of questions.

    1) how hard is it to change the clutch? Mine is slipping really bad to the point where when I start it up with the clutch it lurches forward.

    2) I just got new handlebars on and the wires are much too long. What's the stock length of wires (clutch cable, brake cable, etc) so that I can get some new cables that are 3-6 inches shorter.

    And lastly,

    3) how hard is it to replace the seals on the front forks? My front forks are basically useless because it bottoms out on its own weight.

    Thank you guys in advance

Wiring diagram time! So, to all the electric-whizzes out there, does this wiring diagram look right? I'm more looking at the ignition-side of things. There are 2 wires coming from the solenoid that I can't figure out what to do with. One is for the side stand switch which I'm removing and the other I'm not sure.

NOTE: This is the wiring diagram for the M-Button and M-Unit.

Thinking about putting together this kit and selling it on eBay... wanted to engage the groups interest level... so basically what I've done is replace the starter key with a button that turns on a relay which provides power to the rest of the bike and the starter relay... I also included a Hidden switch without which the main power to the bike cannot be turned on...

I know I know now the bike doesn't have a key... that's what insurance is for... Plus if someone really wanted to steal the bike they probably just put it in the back of a pick up anyway...

so what I'd include in the kit is wiring instructions, the new power button switch, the gasket that would fit the existing hole, a hidden switch, and a relay. Would it theoretically interest you at the $50 price point?

    1982 Honda Silverwing Interstate (GL500I) — Honda cx500 650 v twin facebook page

Make me an offer. Rode it for a good year (after, yes, replacing an oil seal) before a part in the rear wheel gear assembly broke that isn't made anymore. It's otherwise in good working order, so it would make a solid parts bike if you can't replace the busted part. I've moved on to another bike, and I'd like to find a good home for this one.

Gents - today seems to be the day for pics of bikes with dangerous clearance issues on front ends. Unless you have done internal modifications to your original springs and spacers you must not have more than about 20mm or 3/4 inch of your fork tubes protruding above the top fork yoke. More than that and you risk contact between the front guard and the bottom yoke which may well pitch you off and kill you . And running with no front guard/fork brace is a recipe for disaster too as cx forks flex and bend very easily

So I'm somewhat confused here. I'm hoping to find some input. I'm using a shorai battery, motogadget v2 (not that the motogadget should have any affect on this) started bike up first time since build. Reading nearly 16.5 volts. Swapped regulator for spare, exact same thing. Even if the battery was low it should only be charging at 15v max correct? Running all led bulbs as well so draw should be even less than stock. Anyone using same setup encounter similar issue? Going to try a different tester but I'm using a fluke right now so I can't see it being off.

Sorry if this has been asked before, but what are the options for fork swaps for the CX500? I have to rebuild my forks, and I'm going to end up doing my front brakes too while I have it all off, but I do want to swap my forks and front wheel at some point, so it might be a convenient time while it's still cold and I have the bike laid up. Also I want to keep my stock bar mount position, with the fork swaps that are common to the CX is that an option? I have the stock handlebar mount currently and I like where that sits with some Euro bars

So my speedo cable stop working.

I inspected it and the square was worn down slightly and presumed this was the cause. I ordered a genuine old and installed it. Still nothing. Could someone help me and tell me why it's not working.

    Troubleshooting:

I moved the bike and saw speedo out on the front spins.

I put the cable into the gauge and spun it with a drill and the speedo goes to 40km/h.

This is what is confusing me.

I'm shortening my forks internally as I've decided I'm not a fan of the 'Through the triple tree' look. Is 2.5mm thick steel tubing overkill? I've seen people use PVC pipe but that seems dodgy to me.

I've measure the piston and the minimum internal diameter is 14mm and the maximum outer diameter is 22mm I saw steel tubing measuring 15mm inner diameter and 20mm outer diameter, it seems heavy duty which is good but is it a bit much?

    Honda 500 GL Silver Wing z 1982 + części

    Honda GL 500 Silver Wing z 1982 roku .

Zamontowany w niej jest ten sam niezawodny silnik co w Hondzie CX500.

    Motocykl zakupiłem od 2 właściciela.

Przez 8 lat (1982-1990)stał nieużywany jedynie sporadycznie odpalany.

Stąd niski i udokumentowany przebieg niecałe 27 tys.km

Motocykl kompletnie rozebrany i poddany odbudowie:

piaskowanie ramy i malowanie ( czarny połysk),czyszczenie silnika wraz ze skrzynią biegów i malowanie ( farba wysokotemperaturowa antracyt),wymiana łożysk główki ramy, przebudowa instalacji elektrycznej( kierunkowskazy LED), przebudowa układu wydechowego(zdemontowano dyfuzor)oplot w bandaże termo, wymiana mocowań reflektora, wymiana tylnego oświetlenia( LED),wymiana stopek kierowcy, wymiana kierownicy( krótsza, niższa ) oraz manetki, demontaż airboxa, nowe filtry stożkowe gaźnika, filtr pośredni paliwa, wymiana wszystkich linek(obrotomierza, prędkościomierza, sprzęgła) zamontowany filtr odmy silnika , wymiana wszystkich przewodów i węży gumowych wraz z obejmami, zamontowa osłona( kratka) chłodnicy, zamontowane gniazdo zapalniczki ( np.do nawigacji)

Motocykl w pełni gotowy do jazdy i rozpoczęcia sezonu.

W cenie oryginalne części z wersji przed przeróbką.

Na jednej z fotek stan przed przebudową.

    Motocykl całkowicie bezwypadkowy.

    W komplecie 2 kluczyki.

    Polecam.

Odd question..and apologies for the long description

..when I took the wheel out of my forks I have just realised that the speedo drive was not actually attached in any way to the actual wheel hub so in effect it would not have worked anyway....

I cannot find a parts diagram with a list of parts to define which part I actually need....if you follow??

Does anyone have a pic or know what the part needed is?...Ive searched David Silvers site eith no joy as yet.

m going to replace the stock with a new speedo(not sure which) so IF I go digital using magnet and a sensor do I need the part in the hub?

So I bought this gauge on eBay and after I bought it I realized it doesn't have a temperature gauge. But it does have a fuel gauge which as we all know our motorcycles don't have fuel senders... sssoooo I wonder if I can hook up the fuel gauge to act as the temperature gauge... Here is my logic... if a fuel sender works by sending a resistance down the wire wouldn't a temperature gauge work in the same manner? If so I think I can simply hook up the temperature leads to the fuel gauge. What do you think?
