Update 06/04/17:

SOLD: 2013 Honda MSX.

Unfortunately the time has come to part with my MSX. It's been amazing fun to own and ride, but due to a longer daily commute, I need to get something a bit bigger.

I’ve met a fantastic group of people because of this great little bike, so it’s with regret that I need to sell her.

I've owned my MSX since first registration in October 2013 and have carried out all servicing myself.

Although the mileage is a little high (32K miles), It has always been regularly serviced, filled with the best quality fully synthetic engine oil, with oil & filter changes at least every 1000 miles. MOT is until end of October 2017.

The weak point of the MSX (the crank) was replaced in June 2016 with a stronger/upgraded Finbro item and a Takegawa 143cc kit was installed at the same time. Approximately 6000 miles have been covered since the engine rebuild. She runs beautifully now.

I really hope somebody can give her a good home. She’ll reward you with many years of fun and laughs. I would much prefer her to go to one of the members here than part exchanging it at my local Honda dealership.

The list of modifications are as follows:

Takegawa 143cc kit (still registered as 125cc).

Takegawa cam.

Port matched and gas flowed cylinder head.

Finbro upgraded crank.

Heavy duty cam chain tensioner button, new tensioner rollers and engine seals (installed in 2016 with crank rebuild and 143 kit install).

Takegawa oil pump.

Kitaco clutch case (with added oil filter and spinner delete).

Uprated clutch springs.

Magnetic drain plug.

DNA air filter.

M4 Exhaust with wideband boss installed (complete with DB killer).

PowerCommander V (PCV).

PowerCommander Wideband 2 (WB2).

Takegawa generator plugs.

Renthal super low down sportsbike bars.

CNC levers.

Custom 7” round 60W H4 headlight conversion.

LED smoked flush mount indicators.

Integrated smoked LED tail light.

Modified ComposiMo licence plate mount.

Pyramid Plastics fender extender (front)

Modified horn mount.

Recently installed components:

Admin please delete if not allowed..

Unfortunately time to let my custom cub go. Built in 2014 and done 880miles since, gets stupid amounts of attention where ever it goes. Pretty much everything is new. Lots of carbon fiber as much takegawa, kitaco and daytona parts as i could afford. The spec is massive can be pm'd to anyone interested. £1800 no offers or swap for grom. Any questions please feel free to pm me.

The bike will have an oil change tappets checked and fully detailed upon sale.

Bike is on the isle of wight but am willing to deliver to Southampton Portsmouth or Lymington.

      Cheers

Had a bike lesson today and it went brilliantly! First couple of lessons I was SHIT! Couldn't get the hang of the 500cc bike and over the two lessons dropped the fecker 3 times, today after over a week without a lesson or being on a big bike I barely went wrong! A little over 3 hours and I never dropped the bike once! Even got moved up to the 650cc and after getting used to the clutch and handling again I was pulling off the slow manoeuvres without any difficulty. Finished the day off getting my mod 1 booked in as well

My bike keeps slipping out of 2nd and in to Neutral. It's not every time but happened a lot yesterday and today.

Any ideas on why this is happening?

It'll go in to 2nd after it's dropped in to neutral and it only happens when going from 1st to 2nd.

Bike has done 4k miles now. Wondering if the gear selector could be an issue? I've seen people replace the Rose Joint or the whole lever for a more direct one.

It engages starts to rev up and then the throttle goes light and it's in Neutral.

I'm planning on changing the oil over the weekend.

Ordered a polished stainless Brock's Alien Head 2 last week. Not sure if these pricey systems are available in the U.K. but they're really badass! Today I spent all day at my shop today doing a multi Ceramic Coating Process. Really happy with the end result, the flat black Ceramic Coating can hold up to approximately 1900 degrees and sticks out from the other Brock's systems offered for the Grom/MSX because the faceplate of the muffler was left to its original brushed aluminum finish. Brock's "Armor Coat" for the Grom/MSX only is offered in Flat Black over the entire system from the company and I just think this looks so much better this way!

Right then guys the time has come.. **FOR SALE** after whooping my beloved grom I no longer have the time or money to fix her up and my new job is too far to ride so it's looking like 4 wheels for abit. This bike was very well looked after before the accident the other week it's been garaged up since.

I've owned the bike since new, it's a 2015 '65 plate' I have all docs and v5 in my name.

Has 6k from new and I've changed oil every 500-1000 miles of top quality and ONLY run on v power, fairly recently had valves done, receipts to prove.

The engine is sweet as a nut, also has the DNA air filter and metal machined velocity stack that cost me a nearly £100 THE STANDARD EXHAUST WILL COME ON THE BIKE**

WILL NOT BREAK OR SELL SEPARATE, CASH TAKES IT ALL OR NOTHING!!!!

                      It also benefits from;

428 heavy duty chain and sprocket upgrade

                      Tudors rose joint shifter

                      Area 22 fatbars and risers

Maxxis knobblies rear is a little worn

                      Takegawa seat cover 'little tear'

Did have R&G tail tidy and indicators but it's a little mangled.

                      Damage..

                      Slightly bent brake lever

Bars risers have moved on rubber bushings (easy fix)

                      Side panel scuffed

Rh footpeg gone hangar is fine

Fr. rh indicator snapped but working

                      Rear light smashed but working

                      Tail tidy and indicators broke

Rear centre and left panel damaged

Bikes all straight forks are good was only vey low speed flip just being honest.

Honda service plan. is it worth it. Just picked up the new Grom yesterday — Honda MSX125 Owners Forum

Honda service plan.....is it worth it? Just picked up the new Grom yesterday....love it!

Dobles convinced me to sign up to their 2 year service plan (which can be cancelled any time). Thinking more about it this morning it seems expensive....comes in at about £750 total (paid monthly) based on 2 years and 10000 miles (4 services).

I'd like to keep the warranty intact so no DIY servicing. Any thoughts appreciated.

You're leaving me no option then to post this !

I have spoken to jack and have explained everything and he has said to post this on here .

Basically I brought a carbon fiber rear mudguard for the grom from matthew cherry

Around 3-4 weeks ago well during delivery it must have got broken as it arrived snapped I have uploaded pics of proof he told me he will have to speak to royal mail which is understandable so I said I'm willing to wait well after a few weeks he had not heard back he then said if he does not hear back within the next few days he will sort this out so me being me believed he would do the right thing well a few days passed and I heard nothing from him tried messaging every 2 days but clearly he does not want to know .

I've been very patient never got abusive or rude I've been calm and have said I'm willing to wait for it to be sorted as accidents happen but no response from him even after numerous messages to him .

I've now ran out of options I paid via Paypal ( gift ) which yes I know was stupid but he seemed like a genuine guy and I see the pics in the add so assumed everything would go smoothly .

I didn't want to make this post but as said he is not responding at all .

Doesn't even have the decentcy to message back .

So from my own experience I would never buy from him again as I think a key part of selling should be the communication which he lacks

                          Here's a couple of pics

As the pics show this is how he sent it out wrapped in a bit of news paper then thin amount of bubble wrap which in my opinion is poor packaging especially for a carbon mudguard should have been boxed .

Got a question for you all. I was cruising around today when all of a sudden the bike died. It would cut out, and then come back after about a second or two. No warning, no loss of power, no audible signs, nothing. It would just cut out and the tach would go blank (rest of the dash still powered). No check engine light either. It happened 5 or 6 times. Every time was at wide open throttle at 64 mph (about 8k rpm). It ran perfect aside from that.

It's a 2017 with 3000 miles. Bike has a kitaco clutch cover, stiffer springs, low mount exhaust and snorkels pulled from airbox. No tuner or fuel management system.

                                Thoughts?

So the ABS model has finally arrived, but only ABS on the front wheel, rear is still standard. Price has risen from £2969 to £3293 and service intervals have increased to 4000 miles which is probably something to do with the Euro4 compliancy of the engine, but can't be sure exactly......but those seem to be the only noticeable differences.

Anyway I went out last night and covered another 70miles on these new anlas tyres covering dry roads wet back roads and wet and muddy country lanes and I'm impressed with how theses tyres and so versatile in the dry I had my foot pegs scraping with no problems no slides and a good feel as to where I was on the tyre in the wet I was confident enough to be able to change direction quickly to avoid pot holes and the last minute in the pitch black and stil throw the bike around a little bit more smoothly tho and on the wet muddy stuck the held up well although I was reminded that nothing is invincible a few times and had a little slide but then I was being silly the tread design clearly held clear the mud and gravel ..... all in all for now this is my new favourite msx tyre let's see what it can do in the summer

Took the little shite in to Honda this morning for the second lot of warranty work. I'm telling him it doesn't run and I hope it's due to the faulty fuel pump, he basically tells me it's more likely due to not bringing it to Honda for servicing and this could void my warranty. Ok, like I can't/didn't change 1 liter of oil myself. Err... It's a 3+ year old, heavily modified 125, how much warranty did I have left anyway?!

Managed to find time to fit the new 428 sprockets with the 428 chain today, rushed like mad but wondering if I could of messed up I doubt it, bike just seems to be a lot more quite (like 7k Rpm sounds like what 2-3k used to) and I have lowered the ratio a little bit (+1 tooth front and back) but it dosent seem to have kick in any gears, and reached a lower top speed too, going off the same gps speedo as before.

All iv done since last ride was, Change oil, new 428 chain and sprockets and adjusted my chain as it seemed loose. Anything I could of missed?

Good parts from Ben, quality stuff.

I live in Belgium and I was for my job at a motorcycle garage. And I saw a brand there that I never saw before.

I checked the website and they even have a touring 125cc.

I tryed to find more information about this brand. Reviews or reliability. But there isnt much info about it.

I did hear that it could be a brandless motorcycle build in China. That anyone can just slap his own brand name on.

Looks very similar with a Motörhead tekken.

I like the idea of a 125 touring.

                                              What do you think?

Little shit just cut out on me on the way to work. Started acting like it either wasn't getting fuel or wasn't getting spark. Plenty of battery, plenty of fuel.

Walking the rest of the way to start late :(

I never did get the second lot of recall work done. Reckon that could be it??

Ffs, seriously do not have time to sort this out.

Hello all - I'm looking at selling my little grom! :(

Sad times, but not sure on how much to put it up for. It's a 14 plate, red and I haven't done much to it at all! I've got some non-standard levers and a top box. I had a little bump (5mph type of bump) so managed to get everything repaired by the insurance so it's pretty much brand new as I've only ridden it once or twice since then. I've added a couple of pictures of it from last summer (only ones I have on my facebook for now, and no comments on footwear please, it was a one off!!)

How much should I sell it for? Not selling just yet... in the next couple of weeks :) I was thinking around the £1800 mark because of the condition, but any guidance would be good. Thanks all!

URGENT. Bikers needed for ITV This Morning — Honda MSX125 Owners Forum

URGENT: Bikers needed for ITV This Morning

We're in need of between eight and 10 bikers to come to the ITV This Morning studios tomorrow morning. We are based in Upper Ground, on the Southbank near Waterloo.

We need them to arrive at 8.30am. They would be clear by 11am. We are happy to reimburse reasonable petrol costs.

We've got an item on our show about Bikes Against Bullying and the wonderful work they do. Google it, it's a fantastic story. The trouble we have is that we haven't got enough bikes for tomorrow.

Are you able to help another bikers group? Can you show your support for what they are doing?

We'd be looking to film the motorbikes driving at the studio and then we will look to set them up on the Southbank for other shots. They wouldn't be speaking on camera or answering any questions.

Appreciate this is very short notice, but it would be fantastic if bikers in London can come to the rescue of Bikes Against Bullying.

I arrived at Tesco and check it over, the sprocket cover was not bolted on ( bolt just did a runner ) and this bit was not bolted on. It goes behind the sprocket, the bolt have been sheared off it was being held on by the muck and dirt

I almost bought a new Msx ,one of the last of the 2016 models in January ,the only had 1 white one left

But thinking as I'm going to probably commute once a week all year round it's going to get manky fairly quickly over the winter months when even with Acf50 the amount of salt just seems to wreck bikes

What are the cheapest first generation model's going for price wise, not bothered about stock or modded bikes

I do prefer the later versions style wise ,but secondhand price are too close to new,so if I'm paying get that much I may as well stick the extra few hundred down and buy new

Hi guys, did the nd4 fork mod tonight. Easy enough and

Even managed to do it without taking the forks off. Put it back together tightened everything up to find I had air leaking from the bolts that hold the fork rods. After a bit of head scratching I realised that like I had forgot to take the copper washers of the bolts that are not used anymore. Stripped them again reassembled with the copper washers

Job done. Makes a good difference. Don't make the mistake

I did I recon I could do the pair again in less than 15 mins.

Having trouble getting into gear again and it wont go into neutral at a stand still, I had this problem before and then realised my clutch cable was hanging on by a couple of threads, something Thunder Road (dealers) should of spotted twice, so I bought and replaced the clutch cable and everything was fine, but Thunder Road had it in for a service and I think they’ve messed with the clutch cable as the gears are messing up again, would this now just be a simple mess around with the adjuster to get it back to how I had it before? as the clutch cable itself is ok from what I can see (it was previously snapping at the lever)… I dont know why they keep messing with it and having it so it doesn’t actually go into the gears properly or into neutral, I have to get it into neutral before stopping, but if I have to stop quickly due to lights or a car or whatever… then I usually have to sit there the whole time with the clutch in OR have to turn the bike off as that’s the only way it’ll go into neutral, then turn the bike back on, so annoying.

I am trying to register a Honda CR85 on the road and I thought I had all the documents needed however my application was rejected.

I understand the first paragraph, that was my fault and the document was a photocopy as the original was lost. I have applied for a new dating certificate from Honda and will have that next week so that bit is sorted - also looks like the DVLA now want pictures of the frame number or even rubbings!

However the second paragraph makes no sense to me so if anybody can shed some light on what I need to do, the bike is not a import otherwise honda UK wouldn't have given me a dating certificate for it.

                                                                                  Thanks in advance

Will do a full writeup on the whole process once I get my bike registered to help everyone else who may want to do it.

After about 45mins of using sockets, mole grips and brute force to remove the 6mm's, they still didn't come undone and just kept turning... Both of them had split/broken washers so that didn't really help..

In the process I got a Lil angry and pulled the right indicator wire out of place and now the number plate light don't work as well..

I just had a call as my MSX is currently in for 10,000mile service and the recall. As I know, my chain is close to the max adjustment so I'll need a new one asap. However they have the cheek to say if we do it now it will only cost £130 as oppossed to £145 if you come back later.. Why would anyone in their right mind even pay £130 for a Honda chain/sprocket and fitting?

It has a few dents and scrapes and am debating taking the rivets out of trying pressure. Any other tips on getting dings and dents out of a system like this ? I was thinking of tacking a dent puller to the two big dents and yanking until it's outbut would like to hear some input.

I'm going to end up with 4 bikes in my garage soon and need to get rid of one. Just thought I'd see if anyone is interested on here.

I have a Stomp z125, road legal pit bike enduro. These used to be sold as standard for £1250 on the road.

I bought an ex showroom model, and have road registered it. Has lights, indicators etc. It also has bigger 17/14 inch wheels, a new DNM rear shock, and pro taper bars/grips.

It's been ridden less than 20 miles, I've only taken it out 3 times since registering it last year. It's in new condition, even still has the plastic covering left on the seat.

These are of course nowhere near as reliable as the Grom's, and are just to be used for a bit of around town fun or green laning. I only want rid as I need the space and don't have much time to use any of my bikes as much as I'd like, and would rather someone was able to enjoy her.

I'd be looking for around £1200 as it is as new condition. Included in the sale will be the original 14/12 inch wheels (un-used), the original rear shock, and the original handlebars.

(The picture is with the smaller wheels but don't have any recent ones)

If anyone is interested, you can take it off my hands,

                                                                                                  Cheers
