Last week I ran up to Lockport and finally got a Honda FL350! The guy was asking $200. I looked at the parts it had and I knew it was worth that. So I went and got it so when I got one too ride is have spare parts, or maybe use them on my FL250. When I got the I realized I got way more than I thought. The pictures on Craigslist showed the frame and most of the roll bar I thought and the trans and steering yoke. Well it's mostly complete! All the suspension is there minus a couple shocks, no seat, no engine, no rear wheels, and no axles! Granted those are pricey pieces but if I were to piece this out I we all know if make a good amount of money.

So now that I got this much of it I'm going to start collecting parts to build it. I think I'm going to go with Farr Off-road suspension parts and a Rotax. I'm pretty excited. It should be awesome! I thought I was getting parts and I think I got a project. If you guys have any of the bigger items I'm missing let me know.

I'm looking for 1 j arm end cap. They're wanting $12 on flee bay. Seems silly. Also, I'm neck deep in a FL250 build, just curious has anyone put longer travel shocks on the front of a 250? I'm building this up until I can afford/find a 350. They're kind of hard to find in central Illinois.

So far my upgrades includes or will include, hydraulic front and rear brakes, extended J arms, thumb throttle, I'm sure some other things in forgetting. It's already got a 470 Rotax and is pretty quick. Thanks for listening. Here's a picture for reference...

I have an unused long travel front end by aftershock motor sports. It's a complete bolt on front end with everything from suspension to spindles hubs and tie rods. It was over 2500 when I got it a few years ago . Asking 1600 obo

I also got 2 brand new long travel fox air shocks 2.0

And a complete roll cage for the fl350. Frame was junk so I took the roll cage off. Has great condition roof and mirrors seem mint. I also got a bunch of pilot plastics. I'm in Georgetown Texas make me an offer.

Was going to ride my pilot for the first time and it wouldn't rev out. I thought there was something in the main jet but when i got it home i started it and it ran perfect and reved out just fine. Then next time I started it i did the same thing and wouldn't rev out. I am beginning to think its an intermittent electrical problem. I haven't taken it apart yet, but wanted to get ideas before i did and see if anyone has had the same problem.

I am considering putting 25x8/12 and 25x10/12 on itp steel rims with 2+5 and 5+2 rims. I mainly need the ground clearance for my dozen acre, rough, and hilly property I ride and these are a very common size and the price is right. I'm thinking of using 4/130 to 4/110 adapters for the rear. The measurements I took seem to show that this will work. Has anyone tried any similar or have pros/cons to a set up like this. I'm replacing worn or dry rot tires on both these so I'm looking at the options. Thanks.

                          First Generation FL250 (1977 - 1980)

                          Second Generation FL250 (1981 - 1984)

                          FL350R (1985)

                          FL400 (1989-1990)

The original FL250 featured a rear bar behind the driver and was capable of speeds up to 50mph. Combined with the lack of a true rear suspension and feverous off-road usage amongst owners, it was highly susceptible to rollover. In response to this Honda added a full roll cage in 1981 which brought the FL250 closer to dune buggy status 81-84 were red.

The white fender Honda Odyssey FL350 brought to market in 1985 however is more of true dune buggy. With its wider stance, more powerful engine, full roll cage and rear suspension it is capable of speeds up to 55mph with the frame to support it. Issues with sustainability led to a recall and the eventual complete redesign of the model. It was taken off the market after only one year.

Consumers would not see another Honda dune buggy until 1989 with the FL400 Pilot. This ATV was much more capable with a 400cc water cooled motor and advanced long travel front and rear suspension. However with speeds up to 75mph it led to many injuries and deaths related to crashes and Honda discontinued the model after only two years of production.

Don't own one now but used to own a 250. Had it when I lived in the Antelope Valley area of the high desert in CA. It was great fun but took it back to PA when I moved for awhile and it didn't work well without reverse. Better suited for the desert. Back in the Coachella Valley now and wish I still had it. It was a ball.

how is everyone fixing broken cases? i got a siezed fl350 engine(dont remember the year) and i pulled it apart and broke a piece when prying apart by the counter balancer shaft. had sand and water in the engine. im replacing and cleaning everything.

also, has anyone wired one up without a wiring harness before. dont need lights bc this is a project engine and i have no plans to put in a odyssey.i've wired many chinese 125cc honda clone laydown cylinders up with no problems. would need a cdi. can be chinese made and not oem.

Does anyone have or know of a video that shows how to adjust the timing in the '77-'80 fl250's. I already tried YouTube. I can rebuild a motor but am totally ignorant with anything electrical. I'm having problems at full throttle. Start up and casual running its fine but when I try to get on full throttle it bogs out. I've already tried carb adjustments including main jet. I live at about 3500 feet above sea level. Thanks in advance for any help

Ok so put the FL350 top end together today. Couple question though. The base studs cant be reached with a socket so do you guys torque them? Secondly the piston doesnt come quite to the top of the cylinder at TDC its about 3/16 shy, is that normal? Lastly whats the head stud torque spec. Oh and btw Im using a liquid cooled head so Im thinking I can get away with a little more power safely what carb upgrades you all running?
