Never had anything like this happen:
Riding to a breakfast meeting, caught up in Stop and Go Traffic right before the restaurant. Down shifting to make the turn into the parking, and the bike shifted wierd. When I pull the clutch to turn to park, nothing, handle just pulls in. Slowed as much as I could, and hit the kill switch, not a great way to stop.
The clutch still just pulled in, no engagement.
After the bike sat for a few minutes, the clutch worked fine.
Had breakfast, and meeting, came back out, and it worked fine, only had one time it didn't engage on the 40 mile trip back home.
It is a 2003 1800c.
I knew I needed to change the fluid, had it on my list for this winter. I think the fluid is bad, and the stop and go traffic it got hot and maybe boiled, creating an air bubble or two.
I went ahead and changed out all the fluid, Clutch and Brakes, it was brown, no dirt, some air bubbles in the clutch, but hard to tell because my drain tube was a little large.
Was fluid the problem?
What else would cause the handle to just work freely?
There are no leaks anywhere, clutch seems fine.
