I actually hit my top speed so far today after ADDING 2 more teeth on the rear sprocket! This was on a slight UPHILL slant...slight. So I'm running 14/36 gearing with full FMF exhaust and airbox mod. Doesn't make sense lol, I thought I would lose a bunch of top speed with this gearing not gain speed. My friend on his bike was right next to me, and both his speedo and GPS indicated 70mph. My prior top speed was 64 with stock gearing. What gives :D

    • It is supposed too!!

    • That's why it makes no sense!!

    • Maybe this gearing is letting the motor spin much better or something I have no idea. I thought my top speed was gonna be 50-55 with this gearing, no way in hell did I think I would be able to hit 70

    • (cant remember standard gearing)

    • I put on a new D.I.D. 420V professional O ring chain last night, and it's WAY more heavy duty than the stock bicycle chain. I'm super happy with it

    • Stock is 15/34. I'm running 14/36 and by some unknown miracle I actually seem to have gained speed and a lot more acceleration

    • after checking my ebay message, thats what i asked for and actually did get a reply i didn't notice and hes happy to do it, but with a 428 chain :) going to place my order in the morning

    • is it a little punchier off the mark with that gearing?

    • Yes ALOT punchier than stock.

    • Have you ever thought how much the wind plays a part in the differing readings?!

    • Before I had the bbk i was really happy with 14/36. Kept it the same after the bore.

      Me very likey

    • My top speed was 125kph. Or 77mph. What is stock top speed?

    • On stock my best was 120 kph

    • You've probably hit it Clint.

    • Asking cause now I got the original stock exhaust back and have to put it on so I can drive the bike that I'm paying for but can't use....555

    • This is what is on their now but too loud

    • just ordered my 14/36 sprockets with gold 428 chain :)

    • So again Tim; u recommend me using same gearing for daily use, not just keeping rear sprocket to standard? ;)

    • Patrick have you done an exhaust or airbox mod?

    • TBH; haven't got my bike yet

    • Haha well hopefully soon you get it! :)

    • Yeah, hopefully sometime in May:)

    • I recommend 14t front no matter what! If using the bike to commute a good distance, I'd say just do the 14 front and leave the rear stock at 34...I'd only recommend changing the rear if you really want to be a hooligan around town doing wheelies and stuff!

    • Kevin Kojima you should definitely go back to 14/36 if you want to fly around town and don't have to ride on top gear for extended periods!

    • Don't understand? :/ for commute u say do front sprocket change to 14T, but changing rear will give me more acc and speed? Isnt that a benefit driving commute, to change both? :P

    • Changing rear as well will also make it Rev at higher RPM's while doing higher speeds, that's why if you are commuting a good distance I recommend leaving the stock 34 rear on because it will keep the revs down a bit and make the engine last longer ;)

    • That's epic dude

    • Reckon that's what I'll do mate.

    • Acceleration and torque is just way funner than top speeds ;)

    • Agreed sir

    • Still awaiting release on the SF :P why taking so long?
