I'm sure most of you have already seen pictures of my bike floating around on here but I have a question. The bike picture is like unwritten law I think. 99 aero 1100. VT1100c3. Operators floor boards have some dirt building up beneath the floating rubber piece. Can I just pop the grommet looking portion out of the bottom to clean and then press back through to reinstall? What are the chances the rubber comes apart?

  • It definitely comes apart. Remove the bolt on the bottom first.

  • Thanks! I didn't do much looking at it. Just noticed it feeling a little gritty.

  • I'd try cleaning them without removing the rubbers. New ones are expensive!

  • You'll see the rubber grommets that stick through the aluminum, spray a little wd40 on them to help them slide out

  • I took mine out and made oak replacements for them

  • From the looks of your bike its well kept should have enough flex and should not be a problem
