Looking for a gauge cluster for a 1985 V65 sabre. I know they're rare but I have to ask !!!!!

    • When I first started playing with sabre quite a long tome ago now that I think about it, and old guy told me the first thing I should do before I rode, he said to lossen the fork bolts and lower that thing 1-1 1/2 inches it would make it handle... I never did it. But the Magna one with the shorter forks kinda proves his theory

    • Does it make that big of a diffrance?

    • It was a different ride that's for sure, I bought it from a guy who drag raced bikes. When I got the current sabre on the road I thought something was wrong with the front end (which ended up being too tall of a tire) but it still didn't handle the same once I got it squared away. They seem kinda top heavy anyways, and I got bikes that are made for the twisties so I haven't messed with the current one. The old one that's still in my shop blew the transmission but boy was it fast, still runs just a project for when I have time (got another one with a redone transmission waiting for that ones motor internals when I get the time...

    • the off set angle mess with the carbs? i know its only 1 1/2 inch but got to ask.

    • I had no issues with bike until trans went out unexpectedly I might add. Except for float valves in the carbs... they were old and leaked by filling the cylinder and crankcase and coming out exhaust... used some out of an old virago because Honda shop said it would take three weeks, and it was bike week

    • Sabre and magna/baby sabre gauges are not interchangeable. The big sabre gauges are all electronic. I guess you could rig up the cable driven speedo if you swapped out the electronic sensor with the cable drive of a magna but you still have to figure out the wiring. There was a guy that tried it over on the V4honda board and after months of tinkering he dumped the idea and went with designing an entirely new dash. The entire project took something like a year and he was pretty persistent. You'd be better off getting one of those bicycle speedometers.

    • Last night I tore the front emd down on my sabre. Planning on rebuilding the front suspension and brakes . Bill when going back togeather with it I'll try the 1 1/2 tube adjustment. Also have a lead on some sabre gauges. Thanks again.

    • I looked up the ace 5856 gauges, those look like they could do everything on a sabre... problem is you'd have to wire and calibrate yourself. But they are very expencive...

    • Look up v65 Magna fork length and v65 sabre fork length. I wouldn't lower more than the distance difference... just to be save...

    • Alright, when I get home I'm measuring the difference the hard way... I had found something on the internet a couple years ago, but now need to see for myself
