What do you like and dislike about your Honda Rebel 250 — Honda Rebel 125 250 450

What do you like and dislike about your Honda Rebel 250?

I (obviously) have a Honda Rebel 250 in my life. I love the way it rides. I love the center of gravity being more stable (lower to the ground) than some of the other (more top heavy) bikes. I like the way it looks. I like the way it feels on a long ride (comfortable to sit on for long periods of time). I don't like the clutch being so far from the hand grip (I have really, really small hands). I don't like that it's cold blooded (can't just jump on it and take off, like a Shadow). I don't like that it sometimes is hard to shift. I don't like the way that the headlight is small. I don't like the mirrors (they're shaky and hard to see with). All over, I do love my bike. I'm working to correct the problems that I have with it. What do you guys love and not love about your Rebels?

    • My 2001 was a stroke of luck to find. It's the bike I am learning on. Originally was going to learn on a Kawasaki KZ200 but it was in just such poor shape that I got rid of it. Have been on the Rebel a total of maybe 10 hours and the husband is beginning the think I'm a natural on it. My shifting is good, my balance is good. I'm not too good with taking off on a turn, such as at stop sign and then turning the corner and I sometimes let the clutch out too fast. It is a comfortable ride with the exception of the foot pegs/controls are not quite far enough forward for me. I'm 5'7" but with long legs. After about 30 minutes, I start to feel it in the knees. I may eventually do something about them, such as some of the suggestions made at rebel250.com forum. Other than that, I'm still trying him (yes, it's a him) to see what any of the quirks are.

    • Andrew, talk to the people on the rebel250.com forum.

They are fantastic and can be of so much help to you. I posted a problem the other day and within 7 mnutes had four responses of wat the problem could be and the solution. They may have some insights for you.

    3 3 3. Unica — Honda CBR 954 RR

    <3<3<3....Unica

I ride mine day or night rain or shine in 30 degree or 90 degree temps — Honda Rebel Riders

I ride mine day or night, rain or shine, in 30 degree or 90 degree temps. I get 70 74 mpg on my 08 Rebel. I bought it a year ago. I also had an 86 Rebel 450 about 14 years ago that I owned for a few years. It had more get up and go for quicker starts or accelerating onto the interstate. Gas mileage was in the 50-60's. Trouble I had with it was the chain, which came off twice...real pain that was! My new Rebel I threw on a small windshield & it makes all the difference. Cuts down on the wind and rain. Fun ride. Wear your protective gear & go!

    Honda rebel 125

    Hi guys,

i've bought a second hand Rebel 125, it's my first bike and is really great. But, this sounds bad, it starts losing fuel from the downside pipe of carburator... anyone knows or has experienced it?

Show of your bikes how fast do they really go — Honda CT110 Postie. Bike Forum

Show of your bikes - how fast do they really go???

    I own a 1988 CT110...

It got a stock engine and stock gearing - everything is orginal except the exhaust which i have modified slight by blowing out the baffles and cutting a large hole on the bottom.

Sounds something like a 250cc with sports/bbr exhausts.

I took it for a run on the flat road in 'still' conditions and peaked 95 km/h...

Since i blew out the baffles and cut another hole in the rear end of the exhaust i swear its more powerfull... less back-pressure probably??

    Gotta love that...

    • ya - they should have a fifth gear!!!

Really screams along at top speed - i find mine kinda cruises most comfortably at about 70 km/h but full trottle brings it up to bout 90 to 95 km/h...

    • Yes - you can buy a smaller rear sprocket which would increase the top speed...

I'm not sure what a stock rear sprocket is - think its 41 teeth but i'm not sure...

Its a piece of cake mate - just pull of your rear sprocket and somewere on it should be a number telling how many teeth are on it...

Just go to your Honda Shop and ask for a smaller one - between 2 and 5 teeth should do - maybe more....

Ask the pro's at Honda Shop what they reckon. They know they stuff...

    • also a bigger front sprocket will do the trick mine top speed is 105kph but im pretty sure it was about to blow up (that was down a very steep hill and a tail wind)

    • I've clocked 100km/h on the Geelong highway, 2000 model, stock everything

    • 15 tooth is standard for the front sprocket. 16 t is readily available at a motorbike shop eg bike mart.

best to change the front sprocket. much less work and less money :)

my last bike (now stolen) got 95 with no wind, on the flat on a 16t front sprocket.

yet to speed test my new one ;)

chip- I have loved my honda rebel 250 a lot ever since I bought it last summer. it is an excellent starter bike and is very easy to control. Like people say, it is easy to grow out of but I would still start very small. cheap too :) I bought mine from ksl.com. 2002 black, 5k miles with a dead battery for 1650.00, it was a steal. good luck

    Misha,

What are you doing that your Rebel loves the cold weather? If it's not 60, mine is cranky as an old cat. It hates the cold and takes forever to get warmed up.
