I'm curious a guy named Scott changed his fairing on his 83 goldwing. Could this be done to our gl1200's? I really like the fairing. My concern of course would be the gauges.

  • Just make sure to locktite the large bolt and you will love a Pro moto!

Here I am yet again turning to those far wiser then I. After fixing the gas cap issue. I had to add some rubber under the mounts for the windshield I installed to prevent it from slipping forward. Now the issue I am having is it seems to have bent/stretched out some bolts that hold the handle bars down. I can post pictures tomorrow but the nuts are right up against the back of the plastic housing for the wires. I thought it was just loose but I couldn't tight them up. Are those bolts easy to replace? It kinda looks like the other end it built in to the top piece that has the lights for blinkers high beam and such.

%d comments
  • I can't remember. 15 or 17mm

  • The nut and washer bottom out on the end of the stud. Remove one nut and washer and the bottom rubber and you will see what I mean. The stud is bigger than the threads.

  • Well I fucked up pretty good, tried metal and rubber washers only thing I managed to due was strip out the bolts on the risers. So now it sits while I wait for the new ones to get here.

You know if you want to trade your Shadow Areo in to the Dealer mine will only be worth no more than $2,400. I am disabled and they want $6,800 difference for a 1998 Goldwing Trike with 66,000 miles on it. As you see mine has all the blind g and 3,584 actual miles. Trade in value is way less than retail value.

  • Simply put, I don't have one. If you shift into third it goes in fine, and stays in gear, until you give it throttle. Then for some reason it kicks out and goes into second or a phantom neutral.

  • Sell your bike. Use the cash to by a trike from somebody. Dealership suck balls.

My bike is a 2007 with 25000 km on it so not exactly high km but 10 years old... — Honda VTR 1000 Firestorm owners

My bike is a 2007 with 25000 km on it, so not exactly high km, but 10 years old all the same. I'm pretty sure fork oil does degrade over time. Is time alone, a reason i should consider changing fork oil / seals. Everything seems hunky-dory with the forks, no leaks or anything. Of course the forks are a little soft, as per factory. Although this is not a massive issue for me.

On a maintainance level alone should I be replacing my fork oil? (I do a lot of my own work, but would probably pay a mechanic for this)

If I did pay someone to do this labour, how much more expensive would it be to actually 'upgrade' forks with better springs, etc. Or is simply putting in a thicker oil likely to offer a good improvement?

Thanks

Well I thought i would just share these with you guys/ gals and show you my 2006 crf250r and my act 200. The act used to be a three wheeler but was rigged into a "2 wheeler" is what I call it but it is very much like a pit bike. Some pluses about it you can hold more stuff and more people, but it is very hard to turn sharp. With that being a problem for some reason the high low switch on the side makes it go forward and backward instead of high low. So it is one crazy contraption. Lets see your bikes and crazy honda contraptions! (if not allowed then tell me)

Im having some problems here guys hipefully someone can help......i bought a basket case for 70 bucks spent ton of time making it perfect

Rebuilt the motor (5th motor ive put together this year with no previous problems) and i cant get it running it keeps back firing through the exhaust its in time and i belive i set the valve lash correctly as i have so many times before

This motor has been apart b4 i bought it by a man who had no idea what he was doing

Is it possible that maybe he put the intake cam in the exhaust side and vise versa?

Im at my witts end here

    • Points cam location is a rookie error.

I've known the very best of us to do that. lol

    • what honda tool are you talking about, and good god thats alot to be messed up

    • Pull the center out of the point cam and turn it 180 degrees and put it back in and it will start it happens all the time when taking the point cam assy out the center pops out and gets put in 180 degrees out of faze that is why it pops it is fireing on the exhost stroke and not the compression stroke. Give that a try and it should start right up.

Right peeps, my bike failed it's mot today on a leaky fork seal which before you ask wasn't leaking before I left the house, anyway the key thing here is I'm on a budget to get her on the road so I can get some use before the end of summer. I'm thinking oil and dust seals and fresh oil to get her sorted, a chap from a local group in Bristol is going to give me a hand. What weight oil should I get 7.5w and any make in particular. Cheers peeps

    %d comments
    • Well, I've got both forks off, removed the dust seal, seal clip and internals on the first fork and tried for other an hour and the damn oil seal will not budge, slide hammer movement in a vice etc and no joy! Creek no paddle comes to mind!

    • If the seal clip is out will come just keep trying

    • Well after nearly 3.5 hours it's still stuck solid. Heat, tapped at it etc etc. No movement

Charlie pulled the units when they were trying to backdoor his exclusive designs. They sent one to me for testing and it promptly failed on one module after the first ride, leaving me to ride the CB77 back home on one cylinder.
