IF I am only going to get the chance to ride her max of 6 times between now and moving may sell her (loads of extras on her) as been promised that if I do, I can console myself with an SP1 come August.....I know anyone would jump at an SP1 but its the parting of the ways that's got me....lol...Hubby is fantastic and I know I could have my new tart in the garage in August..Just bringing myself to sell her..Maybe May...

A man is stranded on a desert island, all alone for ten years. One day, he sees a speck in the horizon. He thinks to himself, "It's not a ship." The speck gets a little closer and he thinks, "It's not a boat." The speck gets even closer and he thinks, "It's not a raft." Then, out of the surf comes this gorgeous blonde woman, wearing a wet suit and scuba gear.

She comes up to the guy and she says, "How long has it been since you've had a cigarette?"

    "Ten years!" he says.

She reaches over, unzips a waterproof pocket on her left sleeve and pulls out a pack of fresh cigarettes.

He takes one, lights it, takes a long drag and says, "Man, oh man! Is that good!"

Then she asks, "How long has it been since you've had a drink of whiskey?"

    He replies, "Ten years!"

She reaches over, unzips her waterproof pocket on the right, pulls out a flask and gives it to him.

He takes a long swig and says, "Wow, that's fantastic!"

Then she starts unzipping this long zipper that runs down the front of her wet suit and she says to him, "And how long has it been since you've had some REAL fun?"

And the man replies, "My God! Don't tell me you've got a motorcycle in there!"

Had a look at front tyre, there is a small line in the middle of the surface, you can hardly feel anything.Tyre is Michelin Pilot Road , production wk 51/2011

Never seen it before, could it have to do with suspension ???

    • Its OK.. I wouldnt worry about it.... Its all to do with Static electricity discharge due to the Nylon used in tyres..... Ive read a lot about it.. I had the same with my tyres....

    • Phill, thanks, you're right about it, I didn't know but never too old to learn something. I use the Pilot Roads as the BT 014 rear only held to a max of 3.000 miles. The Michelin's have less grip but for normal use on roads good enough for me and last much longer and better grip in wet. Simple cost/performance :-)

    • I live in the south of spain, super hot and wet in winter, bridgestone bt021 has been the best I have tried.Dual compound, hard miggle lasts and sticky enuf to go hard in the corners. 195 euros here, mounted.

I really wish this weather would decide what it wants to do. Being down a car isn't so bad when its warm enough to ride the bike.........but riding in what would essentially be 25 degree temps just isn't as appealing as it once was. At least not for an hour commute.

    • Hmmm....I'm not sure. I know they have dedicated modules to make the turn signals flash when you apply the brakes, but I abide by the K.I.S.S. rule. (keep it simple stupid) We want to draw attention to ourselves while riding, not confuse drivers.

    • My son in law Chad has a dc with them on. They do sound sweet!

    • I have Straight Shots on my 03' and it needed to be rejetted just to start. Honda builds them lean. They are loud and proud. Hondas cam profile for the DCA makes the bike sound great with these pipes. I imagine the shorties would sound pretty tough and give it a little more pull in the top end. Go for it!

    • But...with everything being said... yes there are deals out there... in my opinion anyone that lets an X go for less than what it is really worth is just messing it up for everyone.

Let us be realistic folks. These are the last of a dying breed. They need to hold there value complete or everyone is just going to keep buying them to cut them up and part them out. I know what mine are worth and unless I get what they are worth they will sit in my garage and get looked at. A cheap X just means the seller is stupid and doesn't know what he has...

      Again ...that's my opinion.

to change cct safely. dont follow the haynes lol — Honda VTR 1000 Firestorm owners

to change cct safely.... (dont follow the haynes lol!)

remove spark plugs, both timing cover caps, tank, airbox & rear cyl cam cover.

turn engine anticlockwise with 17mm socket on flywheel until RT mark is visible, rear cams face inwards, RE & RI marks on cam gear lines up with head.

rear cyl is now at tdc on the firing stroke and you can safely remove the cct.

if fitting manual cct, stuff bogroll down the camchain tunnel, remove the top camchain guide (3xm6 bolts) tighten cct bolt until you feel the cct take up slack - there should be 8-10mm play in the camchain.

refit the camchain top guide using threadlock.

*tip - use threadlocking compound on the cct long bolt to avoid it vibrating loose!!! IMPORTANT!

to replace front cct, from rear tdc, turn the engine anticlockwise 450* (1 1/4 turns) until FT shows in the timing window, front cams face outwards, FE & FI marks on the front camchain gears line up with the head.

the front cyl is now at tdc on the firing stroke and it's safe to remove the old cct.

assuming you have not moved the engine from the rear tdc position, and you turn it over 450*, there is no need to remove the front cam cover - doing so means dropping the oil cooler and removing the carbs & adds about 2hrs to the job!

its very important to follow this 100% or you could end up skipping the camchain across the gears and ballsing the timing up!!!

the haynes manual instructs you to turn the engine to the FT mark, not the 2nd FT mark - this is how it gets fkt up lol!!!

any questions when youre doing this, pm me or give me a ring!!!

    • dont do the manual cct up 'finger tight' as this is too tight lol - you want it so you just feel the cct against the guide. if its too tight the engine will make a NERRR noise when you try to start it & you will put too much tension on the cam bearing = premature wear!

    • the locking compound is important as a few (including me) have had manual tensioners come loose through vibration... and it also seals the thread so no oil leaks out (rear cyl)

    • before you start the job, make sure you can get the large centre timing cap off (10mm allen key) as they are often stuck solid and need chiselling out. if you fk the cap up the bike is unrideable til you get a new one as there is oil behind it!

    • yeh did one on a lads bike the other week like that, but took off the front cam cover just to be sure the cams were facing outwards. is worth checking the cap will come off first before you start lol. a slightly more accurate way of doing it is put a socket on the gearbox sprocket nut - its still hard to turn the rear wheel in 6th with no plugs in lol!

Question. does anybody else go thru the right hand going numb while throttling — Honda Shadow Aero

    • Yeah Tabby I get it too. I installed the kuryakyn econo lock and I lock the throttle just long enough to relax my hand and get the blood flowing again. 26.00 for the throttle lock...=-)

    • I installed the Kuryakyn grips and the thing that the edge of my palm rests on. Lets me use less grip strength to maintain speed. Also, relax your shoulders. I catch myself tensing my shoulders when driving through heavy/hectic traffic. It's like running, stay loose.

Hi all...I'm hoping that I can get some advice/help, as I'm a "newbie" with bikes. I'm taking a motorcycle driving course in May, so I am an inexperienced driver. I LOVE the look of the Aero, but would like an honest opinion if you think that a 750 would be too big to start out with. Any information would be greatly appreciated!

    • My 750 Aero is my first bike! I definately wouldn't want to go any smaller. I originally was looking at 250's and 550's, so glad I didn't make that mistake. The Aero is so well balanced and low to the ground you won't have any problems. I do think you would regret going smaller though.

    • One more thing, I took the MSF course and used the 250 Rebel they provided. That made my decision for me regarding buying a 250. Go for the Shadow! You won't regret it :)

    • as long as you can flatfoot the Aero, go for it- you wont be happy with a 250 for long...

Does anyone make a fairing mount for the 1100C3 ?

    • Memphis shades makes one for their batwing fairing, but if you are talking about a full fairing like a Harley road king, then I would say no. I've looked for a full fairing for a few years with no luck. The issue is the speedo. Being in the bucket makes parts like that hard to manufacture. Check out John Miller's bike pic with the batwing.

    • For the hell of it I Google searched it again. Motorcycle accessories shows one for a first generation. Aero. But its a grand, and unpainted.

    • I talked with Memphis Shade and they do not make one for the 1100c3. So I bought one for Roadking because it has the same size headlight open. Then used a National Windsheild mounting Kit or the mounting kit for the VTX1300 is the same fork size. But you will had to use the HD Roadking Batwing.

    • Thanks John. Sounds like a good option. What did you do about your speedo, if anything?

    • Thank you Jeremy for your info as well
