    • Who was the flamer? And where did he come up with that number?

    • a guy who wanted to trade me a bmw R1150gs for it.. He said he was looking up bluebook value. I don't negotiate with dumbasses

    • bad thing is people like that get to vote

    • Lance, we just went round and round with just that when buying my wife's Aero: blue book values differ depending on what part of the country you are in, but $2K? That's ridiculous. Ultimately, anything is only worth what you are willing to part with it for, and accessories are for your enjoyment when you own the bike, and don't go for much else when trying to sell it. Cars are famous for that: pay $1200 for electric whatever, then get back $100 for the option when you sell....bikes can be worse. He was probably offering less than half of what he was going to turn around and try to sell it for....

Hey guys, when I put my x in gear, it kind of jumps forward and the gears feel "tight" never really noticed it before, also when I first let out on the clutch it kind of sounds like a squealing kind of like turning a rusty bolt.. that quickly goes away. I haven't rode in quite a while, any ideas? Clutch doesn't slip when in gear, but all gears feel tight when shifting, shifts fine, just tight.

    • also if it sits awhile the clutch plates can stick together so it has abit of a bang the first time you start it and go in gear..

    • Well I've been running it for three days, it's done it everyday, I'm not sure waht the problem is, I also had an oil leak from somewhere, but not sure where it's from, it had a few drops, I noticed one drop on the garage floor, checked everything and can't find a damn thing. This wheeler seems to have a mind of it's own, and an attitude to fit..

    • time to install new clutch and plates...it what it has to be...

replaced the cylinder and piston in my postie today with a piston bore kit with gaskets. had a it of trouble starting it the first time, undure what exactly was stopping it, thought maybe cause ive stuffed around with the carbie. and still think there might be an issue with the carbie. will find out at some point. also found one of the gaskets for the rocket cover missing from our pack. we put in a make do gasket for that. should be fine. is going now, time to pay the rego and maybe look into buying the taillights and rear indicators to bling this rig up a little :).

this piston is what was wrong with my old one. kinda ran it dry and it blew the rings. purely my own fault and i paid the price to have to fix it (about $270 in the end) just have to degrease the bottom of the motor to make sure there are no leaks and should be all good

Question of the day Being new to the Shadow I find the novelty of a fuel... — Honda Shadow Aero

Question of the day: Being new to the Shadow, I find the novelty of a fuel 'reserve' perplexing. Why have to bother with flipping a switch for a 'last gasp' when the entire capacity could have been used without the extra hassle. Thoughts?

    • different driving habits will change how far you can go too.. so it's nice to have to oh crap I'm almost out side. If you want to live life on the edge just ride with it on reserve all the time if you think it's a bad thing ;) someday you might wish you used it properly

    • I guess what it boils down to is some bikes have a fuel gauge, some have a light, and some have a reserve...all will let you know when fuel is needed. The bikes with a switchable valve, require intervention while riding, the other two don't other than to head for a station soon....

    • Most bikes have a reserve tank. I can only think of one that i have owned that didnt. And it wasnt a gravity fed bike.

Guys, I would like to mount crash pads, but I really want ones which you can mount without making holes in fairings. Have you seen that type of crash pads? Where can I get them with international shipping? If not, does anyone of you have scheme how to make those?

    • My fairings have been puttied and painted and I am afraid that making holes in them will make paint surface crack.. won't it?

    • I think you have wrong Frits van Langen. I have T-Rex sliders on my bike. And yes, i lay down the bike in a corner. The bike slides on the road with just a broken mirror and minor of scratches....

The sliders works very well :-)

    • Is there any shop in EU where I can buy them (T-Rex)? Shpping from U.S. to Poland will cost above the half of its price.

    • Theyre Harley bags with extensions thanks

    • got any pics from the back? Looks like they are mounted in the same position as mine. Looks really good with the paint on them like that. I am going to try and get a bat wing mounted on mine this spring then maybe paint whole bike.

    • just noticed the speakers in them bags. can you hear them good when rolling down the road?

    • I will get another picture posted tomorrow, but the speakers in the back, you can hear but you gotta crank it. Over 35-40MPH, you won't hear anymore, I had to buy headlight buckets and put 5.25 speakers where the crash bars were. I reccomend you don't use the set up I used unless you rider less than 40mph with a half lid, not only that, loud pipes. The speakers add bass, which I love but I'm fine with it not hearing at highway speeds. You can go with the combination of any speakers in the back as long as you wire another 2 motorcycle speakers in the front, for example: Shark, Pyle. They are loud but with the speakers in the back, it will add a bit of bass. The bags make a great sound for bass with 6.5 speakers, and even better with 6x9s if you go with the lids. They aren't marine grade, but rain and water went into them and they run fine.
