    • Sounds like your stator is bad.

    • With it running, probe the bulb sockets with a voltmeter. See what the voltage is. You will just waist money while blowing all your bulbs. The voltage shouldn't go much above 12. Rev the engine and the voltage should not increase. When my regulator was bad I was reading about 30 volts I think.

    • Finger prints and oils on the bulb?

    • I was referring to the E-85 blend sold here in the states. I never said premium didn't have ethanol in it ( although your post brings up a good point, in that I need to check how much ethanol is in our premium in Indiana) I do know that premium burns cleaner and hotter and is recommended for my subaru sti. So I therefore I assume it would be better for a smaller engine type ( such as the Honda motorcycle engine) Wow this topic is so off course, sorry OP. Valve adjustment=good.

    • Non-ethanol stations are hard to find, and it costs more, but some stations that sell ethanol have non-ethanol premium. Like buying healthy food ya gotta read labels.

Hey guys, I'm new to the group. I hope you guys have all had time this spring to do some riding. I live in NE and the weather so far has been less than great, but of course I have been able to sneak in a few hours. I had a tech question I hope one of you can answer? I own a 05 shadow aero the 750c. I was getting the bike all squared away for this summer and that included putting on some new plugs and for the life of me I can not find any torque specs anywhere. Does anybody know what the specs are for my bike? I know what the manual says about the 1/2 turn once seated, I do not like this method. I would rather have a spec to work with. Thanks

    • I chose National Cycle Cruiseliner bags with the turn signal pockets for ease of installation. Any good paint shop can paint them to match your bike. Or look at some of the custom Harley bags if you're talented enough to build your own mounts. Some on here have done an awesome job mounting big bags on their Aero's.

I'm trying to find the torque settings for my big end bearings, the clymer manual doesn't have it from what I can see, neither does my service manual and this one on page 7 has torque settings but none for big end. Would the standard bolts underneath be the setting? Or can someone tell me what the setting is? I can't find it online anywhere

    Cheers

    • Hi Glenn which bolts are you looking for the torque settings for? As far as I know the con rod on ct is one piece and the bearing, crank pin and fly wheels are pressed in to place as are the bearings in the cases. Post some pics if you can.

    • I haven't got it apart yet, just assumed.

    • is it a tricky job? I've lined up the loan of a tool so I could do it myself, assuming it was not a sealed unit, I fear this is going to cost me 400 bucks in labor now

    • I couldn't tell you for sure but splitting the cases and replacing the bearings is pretty straight forward (a bit tough the first time but a big ego boost when you have done it ;) ) and I would think you would be able to buy an already set up crank pretty cheap which is an easy install.

    • I bought the new rod/bearing from oneten, not sure what to expect when it gets here but I thought I had the job sussed but all of a sudden I get thrown a curveball and now I have to reassess.

      Thanks for the help

    Crunch time

Do I spend 450 getting a new bottom end on my postie, or buy a lifan 140 kit off ebay for 500 (apparently it comes with the clutch, carby, chain and sprockets etc)

Considering I think it was the six months of 80km's an hour to work and back that did this I'm leaning towards the lifan, but two questions come to mind.

How hard will this be if the kit is complete?

Will it be LAMS compliant? I'm on my L's and don't want to compromise anything

    • For their brand. These are HD OE bags and rails. I saw the ones you are talking about. Im sure they are good bags too. Are you interested in the older bags I have? Will be down your way in a few days.

    • I dont have hardware for them. They are old and a little rough, so they will need your attention, and they are fiberglass. They are about the same depth as my new ones, just more narrow. Same style though. There is a pic of them above these I think.
