Hi all. I'm trying to increase the preload on the rear shock. I have changed the setting from 2 to 4 but want to try it at a higher setting. Every time I try to increase it, the tool just pops out of the adjuster head lugs. Any tips or tricks to this ?

    • Nice 1 Andrew , best thing to do is adjust on route til it feels right , not teaching u to suk eggs but 1stly before anything

      Check tyre pressures

And right down ur settings now , then start the game of adjusting

    • Thanks dDean. No egg sucking lessons here ;-). Appreciate all the help. Yeah I put the tyre pressures to stock 36F, 42R will do as you suggest and do it on the fly. Will need a set of corners that I can retrace after each change. Certainly felt better tho.

    • Before working on my bike I always get changed out of my stockings and suspenders. Weird I suppose but I just feel more comfortable that way.

Anyone ever had their taillight lens just pop off? The screws are still on - it actually broke off at the plastic sleeves where the screws are while I was riding this morning. Only thing I can think happened was I didn't get all the toothpaste out when I tried to polish the lens 2 weeks ago. Maybe it dried, contracted and expanded? All I know is I'll never try that again. Those lenses aren't exactly cheap and always have to be ordered. Going to have to park the bike for a week while I wait for them to get in then shipped back out to me.

    • never had that happen and ive never used toothpaste to polish it either. Id say it was the toothpaste that did it more than likely.

    • i saw a website with some lenses for cheap a while back. I think they were clear ones. Try google search. Sorry I don't remember the site.

    • I looked at some generic clear ones but I'd rather have that red light back there, especially since I'm heading to the Blue Ridge in November. Most of the areas I'll be riding in are known for misty, foggy weather and a red light will be more visible than a white light.

    • You just put in a red bulb

    • Haven't had that happen but there is a lot of vibration at the back end, My plate didn't have rubber mounts and my licence plate had broken and cracked about 4 times.

I was driving my 99 1100 aero around all day yesterday and it was running flawless. I stopped by a buddy's house and to make a long story Short when I was leaving the bike wouldn't start. The kick stands up, neutral light on, head lights come on, kill switch is off and when I push the starter button there's a click by the starter which I imagine is the starter relay and then the bike looses complete power like something's tripping. When I turn the key off and then turn back on, there's no power running to the bike. But when I turn the fuel lever located below the gas tank around and then turn the bike on, it has power but repeats the same process when in push the starter button. Any ideas?

For Vtwin Mad.. Jason Morrison and Cebb Oz who might want to look at these seats from Else Made cos if you guys over there can buy a cheap old tatty seat from the UK, get the seller to post it Cambridge to Alistair and you'd prob be able to get it couriered back to you for £20 or less if not in a hurry! Best/cheapest way to do it and get a seat, making you the envy of other VTR owners over there! You can get almost anything pretty much to your own spec! Mine and hubbys are on order and I can't wait to see them. I'm having the black with red side panels ( as in the one here in white) with RED VTR logo and red stitching. It will look as smart as a dart! VTR owners get 10% off, so you pay around £99 for a memory foam seat! amazing value and you can't put a price on comfort for your arse when riding hundreds of miles!! ha ha

Just bought Longshots for my 98 Aero. The guy at the local shop says I don't need to re jet if I leave the baffles in. Does anyone else have these on their 1100? Did you re jet or have problems?

    • My bike had the Longsots when I bought it, but they were a little too loud for the neighbors, especially in the summers when I was leaving the house at 5:30 AM so I went back to the OEM's. I had no problems when switching back, but Rob is right, you just need to ride it to know.

    • I have a 99, not much different. The previous owner of mine put new the new pipes on without jetting it. Pops here and there, kinda annoys me when my vehicles aren't running 100%. The jet kit is under $100 if you do it yourself. Mechanically mine runs and drives fine despite the popping but I've always been tought to do stuff the right way so I'm just gonna jet it when i put my bike away for the winter.

    • Thanks for the info. I'll put them on and ride it. I'll keep y'all posted.

    • Gday Matt Burnicle, mate thank you very much for your kind offer. My FB page is Wild Hoggs and I've been sorting out a new website (a blog) as its free, I was paying way too much for a website and for a charity ride, it shouldn't cost anything... Im really interested in signage, pamphlets, teeshirts etc. I'm funding it myself so not too cashed up at the moment. I've only held one Motorcycle Ride for MS so far and that was in 2012, we raised $4000 for MS Australia. Unfortunately cancelled 2013 due to my wifes illness and am going to come back stronger in March 2014 :) Anyone's support is very much appreciated. Cheers guys

    • This is my logo a very good mate did for me... I've just received a quote to have badges made however, way too $$. I realise they'll sell well however, the initial financial outlay is too much. I was asked by many riders in 2012 if I had badges, so instead I was thinking stickers would be a better idea?? I also have an A5 brochure which I hand out to local businesses etc, I'll shoot it too you to see what you think. Maybe I could get you to give me a quote for printing them fir the Motorcycle Ride for MS14? Cheers Matt Burnicle

    • well...i took the motor out of another sx to put in mine..and the electric start stopped working in the motor on the old frame so i thought maybe the battery was dead, so i put it in my frame thinking it would be ok, and the only thing i havent changed is the fly wheel, could it be that? cuz ive changed everyting on my frame, and put a differint stator on the motor i had put in it
