    • always favoured Dunlop 208RR on the R1......my Storm came with Continental road attacks fitted, seem OK so far but like Rob said tyres are a personal choice, if you feel safe, get good feed back and feel in control they are probably right for you, riding is all about confidence in the bike and your own ability

    • Metzeller z 8 interacht over over 12k km (rear) exellent grip in wet.

    • Got metzeller m5 interact on my zx12 and it's useless in the wet , won't bother with another

Hi Stormers...!! howz the vtr's road grip in wet roads at normal cruizing speeds say 120kmph @6th gear....does the bike rear feel like sliding off ???

    • I just started my download...will watch it...anyways all ur advice has boosted my confidence and I pushed my bike lil more than my usual....somehow I got the feeling that the vtwins are bad at corners in wet conditions and that is hindering me....

    • Yep a great video. Watched it today and learnt a lot of stuff to put into practice, now just need the time on the bike.

    • The rear traction on the VTR isn't the best as it's a light bike. Mind you, the same lightness that makes it skid easily on the rear also makes it easier to recover from it. Traction is always a funny subject as there's a thin line between respecting the wet and under-confidence.

It's funny to see peoples faces when I answer "So where are you going on vacation?" I'm taking the Ride Like a Pro class in New Port Richey here in Florida Sunday and when class is over, I'm riding for the rest of the week. Destination - unknown. I'll check the weather so I don't ride into the rain but other than that, no idea.

    • I want to take that sort of vacation, too. Enjoy your week.

    • If you're looking for the Hondaline ones, good luck. They're not made anymore, and if you find them used, they're worth their weight in gold.

Hello all i have 2009 750 spirit. i want the change the exhaust. which brands and models do exactly fit for the bike. I've read many things and got confused a bit. do i need an exhaust with the sensors? i want to get a good sound and don't want to damage the original exhaust with hole saw.

    • thanks all. in my country those modification parts are a bit more expensive than others. also i have to take my bike to the control office in every 3 years and the extreme sound is one of the reason not to pass the test. if cannot pass i cannot ride it. that is why i don't want to do modification on the original pipes. i am planning to buy new pipes and when the test time comes i will mount the originals.

    • Sorry...we didn't know. Steel wool packed in works great to pass sound emissions. Then...pull it out ! zoom zoom.

    • Very nice. You have this mounted on your helmet? Our library recently started checking out video cameras and I thought about getting a handlebar mount (cheap) and trying this. It looks good. If you mounted it on your helmet, did you do it on a side or on top? Is it okay at highway speeds?

    • I wish, it was an ipod I was holding in my left hand. A mounted camera is on my wish list for X-mas.

    • Your i-pod takes good video. I wish it were warmer up here to ride. Winter riding gear is on my Chirstmas list. :)

Gents cheers for all the help. Put thermostat back in and found bleed point on back if thermostat, bled the coolant through and let it run up. Fan cuts in nicely now while stationary, temp gauge is 4-5 bars. Not managed to take her out as I had dramas connecting my prop shaft, due to the fact my swinging arm had moved when I adjusted bearings, so wouldn't allow me to line up the prop shaft through the swing arm. After trying to adjust engine position, I realised this!!! Hopefully be able to give it a run this week. Again thanks for the help, everyday is a learning day!!

Hello gents from my last post I have now fitted my spare engine from my spare... — Honda V45 and V65 owners (Sabre Magna)

Hello gents, from my last post , I have now fitted my spare engine from my spare bike which I was told was good. However once fitted I fired her up and ran her up to temp, but I seem to have the same fault as before, it's overheating and the radiator is boiling over. The temp gauge was on 5 to 6 bars but the fan wasn't kicking. I put the fan on manually but the temp gauge stayed on 5 bars. Now either I'm doing something wrong or it's a coincidence that I have two engines with blown head gaskets! I have tried new fan switches in aswell.

    Question are:

    1. Where does the temp gauge normally sit?

    2. Are the engines probe to blowing head gaskets?

I hope it is a head gasket fault as then at least I can see it and fix it, but I won't know till I pull the heads off, just thought I'd ask on here first as there slot if experience on here. Cheers

    • I think your thermostat is stuck. I don't believe you've got an engine problem.

    • Thermostat is removed mate.

    • I have not had this problem, but riding sits on 3 bars. In slow traffic can go 5 bars. To be a head gasket. Do you get oil or white frothing in radiator? Or if leaks other way, oil white frothing in oil window on motor as radiator with cap on is at higher pressure than oil pressure. I would check following:

Coolant flow in radiator - blocked fin tubes

Coolant flow through engine an frame - has radiator stop leak been used at some stage?

Water pump not circulating - there is a test in repair manual.

Could be same prob with both engines, but sounds like there is something else going on

      Cheers

So.... my bike died on the freeway a couple of weeks ago.... I flipped the reserve tank, NOTHING. Husband had it towed to Honda today. Guess what? Loose nut behind the handle bars. Me. Empty tank. Out of gas. How f*cking embarrassing!

    • I do the same thing but this particular day it didn't "lock" in place but flipped back up as soon as I leaned it on the stand. I was already swinging my leg off and as the weight came over it knocked me to the ground and pinned me. Bruises both sides of my ankle (boots saved it) as well as my hip and inside of knee. Helmet got a slight scrape too.

    • I discovered that I had been running with the reserve on when I felt it run out of gas, flipped to what I thought was reserve and the bike shut off. Luckily I was only about a mile from work, and someone from my shop came with a gallon of gas.

Come on guys...Who says Italians don't have a good sense of humour eh!! few light hearted jokes for the weekend:

    He'll Take Care Of You

Gina had just got married and being a traditional Italian, she was still a virgin. So, on her wedding night, staying at her mother's house, she was nervous. But her mother reassured her. "Don't worry, Gina. Tony's a good man. Go upstairs and he'll take care of you." So up she went. When she got upstairs, Tony took off his shirt and exposed his hairy chest. Gina ran downstairs to her mother and says, "Mama, Mama, Tony's got a big hairy chest." "Don't worry, Gina," says the mother," all good men have hairy chests. Go upstairs. He'll take good care of you."

So, up she went again. When she got up in the bedroom, Tony took off his pants exposing his hairy legs. Again, Gina ran downstairs to her mother. "Mama, Mama, Tony took off his pants and he's got hairy legs!" "Don't worry. All good men have hairy legs. Tony's a good man. Go upstairs and he'll take good care of you."

So up she went again. When she got up there, Tony took off his socks and on his left foot he was missing three toes. When Gina saw this, she ran downstairs. "Mama, Mama, Tony's got a foot and a half!" "Stay here and stir the pasta," says the mother. "This is a job for Mama!
