  • Gratz! How long (time) and how many fuel stops?

  • LOL! I didn't know these things went fast enough to go 1000 miles in 24 hours!

  • I did it 23hours 53 minutes and got gas every 100-120 miles. And its not about speed so these things are plenty fast.lol

I still need to make all the final adjustments to it and im waiting on my amp as well so itll all be apart again and then once more for paint after its painted ill have it all dialed in nice and tight. Just waiting on the salt to drop before I take the bike apart for paint

  • I think you should relearn yourr chinese Donald Gunn, he said yellow, not red. Lol ;)

  • Chinese colour symbolism

Throughout the years, and even today, colours are very important to the existence of the Chinese people.

    Today:

    1. Yellow is still reserved for royalty. Clothing and objects that are yellow in colour still resemble a higher social status. Although each dynasty designated each official rank with their own colour, yellow is reserved or the emperor himself.

The colour yellow and its shades are also the main colour of Buddhism; thus it represents being free from worldly cares.

    2. Red is still used for happiness and joy. In fact, after the Ming Dynasty, only the Emperor's close relatives could have homes with red walls and yellow roof tiles.

Peasants could only live in homes made with blue bricks and roof tiles.

    Blue ^^^^^^ rofl.

G'day - I have an 82 Sabre and having a problem with it starving for fuel after hard acceleration / cruising at high speed. I don't seem to be the only one who has had this problem by the attached link in V4 Muscle bike forum (link below). So far no one seems to have solved? could be (as first of model) fuel lines too small starving one carb for fuel, because if you pull over and let it idle for a minute (fuel flows) it goes away till you hard accelerate again.

Has anyone had same problem and solved?

Does anyone have an aux tank on their CT ? I am talking bout the one under the rack. Would like to see one on a bike. Do they hook up to the std fuel hose ? Have tried to search bike can't find any good pics.

  • I wonder if you'd need a fuel pump for something like that?

  • Thanks for the responses , that clears a few things up

  • I have 2 CT90's, both with the aux tank. They are simply a removable tank with a small drain tube that you'd use to fill the main tank. There is nothing mechanical about it, unless you count the holding strap and lock/helmet lock mechanism. Here is a pic of my '78 with the aux tank below the rear rack.

Hello everyone — Honda Shadow Aero

Hello everyone!

Just for clarifying- is it possible to replace the handlebars on Shadow Aero before 2008 with those adjustable stock handlebars from Aero after 2008?

And what are the differences between the models (Aero before and after 2008)?

  • Thanks for photos! These are Phantom`s handlebars. As I see it, Phantom and Aero are so different. I like Phantom but personally- for Aero I`d prefer to keep the stock Aero handlebars. But- adjustable, from Aero after 2008.

  • Just remember you might have to replace your cables.

  • Yeah. Looks like the easiest way is to look for Aero after 2008 from the beginning:)

  • 1st things 1st , jump starting ur bike of a car will knacker the regulator , 2nd uv prob got a duff battery 3rd firestorms suffer from the front carb choke seizing

  • Glad u told me that about the car cheers dean. And think my batt seems to turn over enuff to start the bike for short time normal whether it would start fine instantly just over the last week been really cold and just turns over won't fire but the battery dies instantly if I pull the choke out on turn over.

  • its worth getting the batt tested , also the terminal on the starter gets crudded up as its behind the front wheel , and this will lose a lot of power from the battery

  • I was planning to list them on Ebay wwith a 'buy-it-now' of $250 plus shipping

  • Are you not happy with them?

  • Actually I think that the V&H Longshots are arguably the best aftermarket pipes for this bike. Great sound, much louder than the stock pipes and look great on the VT1100c3. I originally took them off of my Aero and went back to the OEM pipes just to appease the neighbors when I would head out at 5 or 6 AM for an early morning ride in the summer. I figured I would just hold on to the Longshots in case I decided to switch back, but now I doubt that will ever happen. Anytime I feel the need for the extra volume now I'll just ride my VTX 1800R (with a pair of V&H Bighots) or my old Harley FXR which has some Hardly-Legal custom pipes on it!

- Ear(soundlevel) protection

  • I only wear ear plugs when the other half is on the back : )) I dont have a back brace but have built in protection in my jacket.

  • Yep, back protector and earplugs for me. High frequency wind noise can be very draining, and I was amazed at how much less fatigued I was after my first long ride with earplugs in... worn them ever since.

And they don't drown out the engine song at all! :)

  • Leather jacket with elbow and back protection, gauntlet gloves, steel toe/shank leather boots, and my Shoei helmet. I find with the Shoei I don't need ear protection like with other helmets.

Quick question peeps... My VTR came with Erion cans already fitted with circular straps mounted to the rear footage hanger. Is this how the standard cans were attached or did they have brackets ?

  • If your cans have separate link pipes all you would need is a pair of cans.

Split at the link pipe to can joint & replace.

I have viper oval ally cans. Sound great, look ok but fancy carbon cans.

10% reduction in fuel consumption when going from standard to vipers. A further 5% running with no baffles.

Ally cans less than half standard weight. Carbon better still.

Check with rob dehoo, he is buying & selling. You could part ex your cans

  • Think the freight between here and rob might be a deal killer. Lol.

  • Erion cans look quite good quality & prices are good. Rob is shipping all over the world so a quote would be easy to get. Don't rule anything out

Question for the Aero bunch! My 2007 was bought from a dealer...it was a trade in. The tool bag that comes with the bike when new is empty! I'd like some advice...in the absence of a stock tool kit...what basic tools should I carry on the road for the Aero? I understand basic hand tools, but relatively new to riding and don't know what one might need for what could be fixable on the road.

Thanks!!!

  • My tool kit was missing most of the original tool & had a mix of aftermarket pieces in it. I searched online and found the OEM tools & ordered them last night. You can buy the complete set for about $45.

FOR SALE: The First VTR1000 in Australia!!! Located in Tasmania.

Regretful sale, but I feel bad for not using her as she should be used.

1997 VTR1000F, The first one to enter Australia, VIN: 0000001.

I contacted Honda when I bought the bike, and they told me that she was used as their demo bike for reviewers to ride, as well as being taken around dealerships for ride days.

She has been well used and has some cosmetic character building marks, but is good overall and mechanically. The after-market single exhaust system sounds amazingly terrifying. Will sell with 6 months Tasmanian rego.

I bought her with the intent of tidying her up, riding her every weekend and keeping her forever... but as usual, life gets in the way, and she has not been used as much as she deserves. I would love someone to buy her who is a Firestorm Lover and who appreciates her for her history. $4500.

Phone: 0438252257, please contact for more pics or details.

  • The 59 isn't unit construction though. 2 amals, 1 float.

  • Correct, that's why I mentioned it. If you wanted to restore to OEM carbs, the unit construction TR6 would have 1 Monobloc carb and it would not use a remote float. Over the years I have played with the TT, GP, Monobloc, Concentric, and Square Body Amals. Even did Mikuni conversions.

  • I've fooled with carbs too, but I'm trying to restore this one to stock. Many dilemmas with the Lucas crap.

I have a really clean 84 V65 Honda Magna with about 33,000 miles on it. The bike is in really great shape but I'm having one issue that no one seems to be able to understand. Around 4500 RPM the bike has engine vibration felt mainly in the seat and foot pegs. I've driven other Magna's of this year and I did not experience this vibration issue. in fact I was originally really impressed with how smooth these bikes are especially given their age. anyone have any ideas what might be causing this vibration before I turn this bike into a money pit? thanks for any assistance.

  • I have a 5.5K slight vibration and I have had 3 different motors in that frame. Doesn't really bother me but I do find it interesting that it has been there even with different motors.

  • You have to remember that because these bikes are so much fun to accelerate and power shift on that the U joints take a fair amount of abuse,,,,,,,and because they are out of sight they are often out of mind,,,,,,,,I'm guessing that a fresh U joint will eliminate your vibration,,,,,,

  • I will definitely look into the u-joint. thanks.
