Here is my 82 v45 that currently has 17000 on her. Never heard of the bike and didnt like the purple color( though its body lines where way ahead of its time). But once i drove it, luv at first rev. Im hoping to get some good info and advice on her from this group and ill start from what ive found. Lucas pure synthetic. Once i added this to the oil, shifting and temp readings are improved major. Not to mention it sticks to metal even at high temp. Which is great for the cam issue. Lucas also makes a direct reference to being safe for wet clutches. Try it you wont be disappointed.

  • beautiful....

  • Not sure many of the 45s had cam issues though I may be wrong. Lucas oil is awesome,, my car. Be careful, you've got a wet clutch and additives can be problematic.

  • The bottle says to use %5 synthetic 95% oil for bikes with a wet clutch. Ran all summer without an issue. Ive heard both ways about the lack of lubrication to the rear cams. But it never hurts to be safe.

  • That's great info. Like I said, I've sworn on Lucas for my older cars and the stuff is liquid gold

The automobile industry is one of the most impacted by social media conversations, which have a significant effect & obscure opinions on purchase. Also, given the capital intensive nature of the business, and criticality of new launches, brand owners are increasingly looking at the social web for marketing and deeper analysis to understand brand and sales impact.

Moving away from the conceit indices, the ‘YOUR BHP’ Motoring Index Tabloid’ aims to correlate motoring metrics, consumer sentiment and sales data to provide marketers and brand owners with actionable insights.

Through leader boards that they have created, the report will help auto brands to monitor their performance vis-à-vis their competitors over a period of time. To be updated every month from here on, the report will show monthly online movements in brand conversations and impact.

Any funny stories about been pulled over by the police — Honda VTR 1000 Firestorm owners

Any funny stories about been pulled over by the police?

I once got pulled in to random "check "

They asked if I've been drinking or had a drink. I said yes I've had a pint.

Breath test later and one back nill. Asked what I had to drink.

Pint a milk at 9am this morning

Didn't look to happy

  • I once asked a police officer if I can get done for what I think. He said no. I said good cos I think your a prick :-)

  • I was 16, winding my SR250 to the max to see what it could do. Look in my rear views and see Mr Plod on his BMW police bike with his blue flashers going... Oh shit. My parents are gunna kill me. Chop down the gears and pull over. Waiting, waiting, waiting... Turn around and he's pulled a u-turn and chasing a bloke on a sports bike doing twice what I was. Thank you, whoever you were.

  • When I was in the uk, i was on my way to a wedding evening do with my partner, her friends' new b/f was driving and he was putting his foot down a bit (prob showing off) when he suddenly said 'shit...cops behind me!' He slowed down and at the next set of lights the copper pulled up besides us and motioned to wind the window down. He immediately went into plod mode and started stating the dangers of driving too fast etc, I let him babble on for a while, then said' Are you going to book him or what Nige?' As luck had it the bike cop is a mate of mine, so he looked at me and said 'tell nob head to slow down will you Craig?" and then rode off. This guy just looked at me and said You are one handy guy to have in the car!!!

  • hey bro I simple suggestion Check whether it has some leak if so get it replaced at exide I have done it within a year got a new one . Also in the morning first give some choke start by kick hold the bike for idling for around two to three mins decompress the choke and then drive

  • Dont pull choke for more than 10 Seconds,it will leads to build up of carbon deposits in top of piston.

  • As your bike is new,As Amit bro said,Go to service center,if its damaged, they will replace it with new one free of cost.

any ideas since filling up on Sunday this didn t happen before hand my bike... — Honda VTR 1000 Firestorm owners

any ideas!!!! since filling up on Sunday (this didn't happen before hand) my bike has coughed and spluttered a couple of times and cut out on me completely twice, (on both occasions she fired straight up again).......also, the front brake judders under braking (supposedly new pads).....only had her 4 weeks I'm just hoping it's nothing serious, probably nothing to worry about and they maybe really daft questions but can someone please put my mind at rest....cheers in advance :)

  • I had similar issue, with cutting out etc, after brimming tank, it was breather hose that was the issue as excess fuel had gone down and caused air lock, after opening fuel cap to release pressure it was fine.

So I'm careful not to overfill now.

  • cheers for all the info peeps, I took my bike back to the shop I bought it from (only a few weeks back) and they are gonna fit new discs and pads for nowt, result :)

  • So they fucking should

This should of been checked before pre sale

Purchase Survival Bracelets to raise money for Diane.

Diane has a hereditary neurological disease called

Charcot Marie Tooth disease that began deforming her feet at

the age of 5. By the time she was 32 years old it had put her

in a wheelchair. Fortunately she found an orthopedic surgeon

who said he could help her to walk again by totally reconstructing

her feet. She was in a wheelchair for 3 years while having the

surgeries and recovering and learning to walk all over again.

Today she is still walking at age 49 but she copes with a lot of

medical problems from the disease such as very poor balance

(she falls a lot) and she has severe nerve pain throughout her

body 24/7, she has scoliosis, and severe arthritis in her back,

shoulders, and feet. All of this has caused her to lay her bike over

many times and she has come to realize she needs to add a trike

kit to her bike so she can ride again.

She hasn't been back on her bike after laying it over the last time

and hurting herself. We are asking for YOUR help to raise the money

needed to add a trike kit to her bike so she can get back on the

road again. We support and help others through poker runs and

charity events and we want to continue to do so BUT she needs

her bike triked so she can ride again. PLEASE help us raise the

money needed by purchasing our Survival Bracelets here through

our Fundraiser to earn the money needed.

We are offering 3 different BIKER colors shown in the picture

below. They are $10 each

So far we have raised $600 towards the $2500 needed to buy the

trike kit by hosting a yard sale fundraiser last weekend. Every $1

helps, it all adds up.

will try if i can start a new riot on the fbb page 3:)

  • On the farm lived a chicken an a horse, both of whom loved to play together. One day the two were playing when the horse fell into a bog and began to sink. Scared for his life, the horse whinnied for the chicken to go get the farmer for help! Off the chicken ran, back to the farm. Arriving at the farm, he searched and searched for the farmer, but to no avail, for the farmer had gone to town with the only tractor. Running around, the chicken s pied the farmer's new Harley. Finding the keys in the ignition, the chicken sped off with a length of rope hoping he still had time to save his friend's life. After tying the other end to the rear bumper of the farmer's bike, the chicken then drove slowly forward and, with the aid of the powerful bike, rescued the horse! Happy and proud, the chicken rode the Harley back to the farmhouse, and the farmer was none the wiser when he returned. The friendship between the two animals was cemented: Best Buddies, Best Pals. A few weeks later, the chicken fell into a mud pit, and soon, he too, began to sink and cried out to the horse to save his life! The horse thought a moment, walked over, and straddled the large puddle. Looking underneath, he told the chicken to grab his hangy-down thingy and he would then lift him out of the pit. The chicken got a good grip, and the horse pulled him up and out, saving his life. The moral of the story? (yep, you betcha, there is a moral!) Hey all looking for some expert advice 16lt and 19lt petrol tanks armed... — Honda VTR 1000 Firestorm owners

Hey all... looking for some expert advice ;-) 16lt and 19lt petrol tanks... armed with only a photo, how do or can you tell the difference between the tanks. I have pretty much convinced myself that this tank is a 19lt tank. There is a slight difference in shape on the top of the tank forward of the petrol cap. What do you think?

  • From what I've read on the forums I don't think its a straight swap to fit the 19l to an earlier bike. It might pay to do a bit of research first to see how easy/tricky it would be.

  • The 19 litre won't fit on pre 2k bikes directly.

Firstly the connections to the electronics are differently.

Secondly, the tubes have to be altered.

And my 1998 bike does around 100 miles before the light comes on.

It's also not 16 litres but 15,85 litres exactly.

  • If I get this tank it will come attached to a '98 storm so will have everything I need to fit to mine.... Basically thinking of simply swapping a few bits over between the bikes, tidying it up and selling on next year. Meanwhile I will have a few extra goodies for my bike :-) Will wait until I get and have a proper look at it though, this bike got half the mileage on it compared to mine... May turn out to be a better bike.

I bought a 400ex carb for my 350x and advice on jetting it from those of you who have made the swap ?

  • The accelerator pump on the 400 carb is a better design than the 350x. It's only 3 and a half mm bigger but yes it is a substantial upgrade if its accessible. I personally like a 36-38 mm mikuni flat slide

  • I get what ur sayin but if I run a 400 carb on my 350x with 350x jets I haven't gained anything right? Just put a new plug in a month ago and it looks pretty good. Looks dry and crisp unless sits pms-ing that day and just doesn't start good. Doesn't happen often though.

Has anyone ever replaced the stock baffles on Cobra Lo Boy Shotgun pipes with a shorter baffle? I'm hoping that a shorter baffle will work with the Shotgun Pipes and give a louder sound than the original ones that came with them. Thanks in advance for the input.

  • Thanks Mike. I was thinking of doing something real similar to what you just mentioned. The problem I'm having is getting one of the baffles out of the pipes. I got one removed, but the other one is stuck. Have you heard of any tricks in removing them? I don't think they are rusted because they are only 4 months old, but I did try soaking them with WD40. Thanks for the input. I'm glad to hear someone else had some good results by downsizing the baffles. One more thing, did you notice a reduction in power since you decreased your backpressure to the engine? Thanks again, Randy

  • Not sure, Ricky...they came with the bike.

  • I removed my baffles, just a few days after getting the pipes, may be why mine came out easier, even though it wasn't real easy.

  • I agree with air filters - they only result in a flat spot somewhere no matter what you do to improve the sp's are a prime example - those that say different are kidding themselves or their dyno is lying - I spent $$$ trying to resolve a flat spot when changing the sp2 to aftermarket air fliters with the other mods id done - too many dynos runs to be honest with one of the best I know mechanics who know the sp only to find the flat spot either moved up or down the rev range, some were small others quite large and alarming - ended up going back to the stock items to find it all go away minus a small amount of HP but better delivery- its like an old rider told me a few years later "those bike companies spend large $ getting things to work right - why fuck with what works - the smart option is adding to make things better " only wish I spoke with that bloke to begin with" smart old rider that one
