So I just picked up a new to me 87 rebel with 7k on it. It's been sitting for a while and the carb needs cleaned but I have put 50 miles or so on it in the last few days and noticed the exhaust on the number 2 cylinder is really blue! I'm not sure the last time the valves were done and o have a little "poof" sound from that pipe when I shut the bike off.....tight valve? Burned valve? I have been trying to talk myself into adjusting the valves and not paying someone.

    • Clean the carb and set the valves. 1st then go from there.

    • I have an 87 also. 30K miles on mine. Cleaned the carb, adjusted the valves to specks. Still get that little "poof" too. Adjust air/fuel mix on carb. You may be running slightly lean.

    • After researching it, a lot of people get that little poof.
